There is no question that Scrooge McDuck loves diamonds, and Fantagraphics is celebrating his milestone 75th Diamond anniversary in style with Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge: The Diamond Jubilee Collection. This collection of celebratory Scrooge McDuck tales are all by the Scrooge McDuck creator and legend himself, Carl Barks.
Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge: The Diamond Jubilee Collection
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Scrooge McDuck character: a Money Bin-sized collection of the greatest Scrooge epics by his creator, Disney Legend Carl Barks!
He’s tougher than the toughest and smarter than the smartest… he’s Uncle Scrooge McDuck, Duckburg’s most adventurous tycoon!
From Scrooge’s deep-down discovery of “The Secret of Atlantis” to his weather war with Magica De Spell in “For Old Dime’s Sake,” from the Beagle Boys’ “Giant Robot Robbers” to a “North of the Yukon” showdown with Soapy Slick―Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie dive into one legendary quest after the next! As icing on the anniversary cake, these Barks epics are supported by covers, posters, and paintings from Don Rosa, Daan Jippes, and other beloved modern Disney comics talents.
There are 18 stories included in the 384 pages of Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge: The Diamond Jubilee Collection:

Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge: The Diamond Jubilee Collection is a great tribute and celebration of 75 years of Scrooge McDuck. Shout out to Justin Allan-Spencer who did a fantastic job with the layouts and editorial pages to make this a gem of a book to have on your book shelf in your collection. I can imagine that it must have been a hard task for David Gerstein and Fantagraphics to have to choose the stories that would make up this milestone keepsake book. All of the stories are Carl Barks classics with the exception of two that came to life through collaborations with Daan Jippes and William Van Horn. If you are collecting The Complete Carl Barks Library, then you will already have most of the stories from the volumes that have been released so far.
In addition to all of the stories in this book, there is a page or two with behind the story details and facts. There is also Carl Barks paintings and various cover art related to the stories by Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Marco Rota, and other Disney Comics legends. I would love a Fantagraphics book that had a full page of every Carl Barks Disney Duck painting.
I am sure that fans will point out that their favorite Scrooge McDuck stories may be missing from this book. The first Scrooge story “Christmas on Bear Mountain” is not in this volume, but it is Bear Mountain Tales which was also published by Fantagraphics to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Scrooge. I hope that Fantagraphics continues to publish books with collected stories around a theme. I would love to see a Scrooge’s Greatest Foe series with collected stories from various creators that feature volumes centered around Magica De Spell, Flintheart Glomgold, and the Beagle Boys.
As a reminder: It would take a lot of time and money to compile a comic collection thatincluded all of these stories. Anything that takes a lot of time and money would not be approved by Scrooge McDuck.
Thank you to Fantagraphics for allowing us to go through this Disney Duck journey. I feel smarter for increasing my Disney Duck knowledge base by reading this volume.
