Fanboy Expo returns to Orlando 9/2-9-4 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
I had a blast doing media coverage for Fanboy Expo Orlando last year. You can read my recap of that memorable event here.
Fanboy Expo is one of the biggest pop culture convention events in Central Florida. The other big annual convention in Orlando is MegaCon, and while MegaCon Orlando is huge on a SDCC level, Fanboy Expo brings an amazing celebrity guest list for it’s attendees.
With Fanboy Expo Orlando quickly approaching, and I wanted to give you my thoughts on why I am hyped to be in attendance again this year. You can view the complete celebrity guests list here.
Here are the Top 3 things that I am looking forward to:
Number 3:
STAR WARS!
This year’s Fanboy Expo in Orlando is going to feel like a mini Star Wars Celebration. Here are what Star Wars fans included myself have to look forward to:
Billy Dee Williams played Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars trilogy as well as The Rise of Skywalker.
Sam Witwer is best known as the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. You just know at some point he is going to yell our KENOBI!
Barry Lowin is one of the men behind the mask as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. Not only is the Mandalorian my favorite Star Wars character, but Barry is also a Louisiana State University alum which gets him bonus points from me. Barry also portrayed the Shoretrooper in Chapter 15: The Believer, and was most recently spotted in the hit series The Book of Boba Fett as Garfalaquox in the Book of Boba Fett.
Dorian Kingi is the performer that gave us our first live action Cad Bane in the Book of Boba Fett which was a major highlight for me with that Disney+ series.
Carey Jones played the bounty hunting wookie, Black Krrsantan, in The Book of Boba Fett.
Mike Quinn is a Star Wars: Return of the Jedi legend with his performances of Nien Nunb, Sy Snootles, and Rees-Yees.
Another Star Wars: Return of the Jedi vet, Corey Dee Wiliams played the role as Klaatu on Jabba the Hutt’s Sail Barge.
Femi Taylor played the Twi’lek dancer, Oola, from Jabba’s Palace scene in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
Mark Dodson voiced Salacious Crumb and various Ewoks in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
The Star Wars: Return of the Jedi presence is definitely strong at this convention. I was starting to feel like I missed out a lot by not being able to attend Star Wars Celebration in May, but this mini Star Wars Celebration in Orlando is going to be amazing.
Panels featuring the Star Wars cast of characters are scheduled on Friday and Saturday of the convention.
Number 2:
NOT THE MAMA!
I love Muppets and Dinosaurs and Fanboy Expo is bringing dream guests Steve Whitmire and Kevin Clash.
Steve Whitmire is being the successor for Jim Henson’s Kermit the Frog for which he would perform the role until 2016. Steve also was a puppeteer for Dinosaurs as B.P. Richfield (puppetry), Robbie Sinclair (face), Chief Elder (face), Mr. Mason Dixon, Sonny Woody, Blarney, and Judge H.T. Stone (puppetry).
Kevin Clash puppeteered and provided the voice for Baby Sinclair. You may have also heard of some of his other roles such as Elmo and Splinter.
I am such a huge Dinosaurs fan that I plan to definitely have Kevin sign something Baby Sinclair for me.
Number 1:
WE LIVE AGAIN!
Goliath from Disney’s Gargoyles, Keith David, will be gliding into Fanboy Expo. I am not going to lie, I am pretty obsessed with Disney’s Gargoyles. Keith also provided his voice to Manny the Headless Horseman Gargoyle in DuckTales (2017). Keith had friends on the other side as Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.
I can not wait to meet Keith David. I am also very much looking forward to his Q and A panel on Saturday at 11:35am.
So that is why I am excited for Fanboy Expo Orlando 2022 which is coming up in just a few weeks. I hope that you are also excited if you are able to attend the event. You can get tickets to the convention on Fanboy Expo Orlando’s website.
I will post my recap after the 3 day weekend on our blog. You can also follow along for the fun on our twitter feed @DuckTalks.
