The greatest story ever told, The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck, is now available in a new deluxe edition published by Fantagraphics. This new deluxe edition is the definitive collector’s edition of Don Rosa’s masterpiece. Like many of you, I have multiple copies of these stories. This is the ultimate edition that “should” be the last copy that you will want in your library as a collector as it includes everything.
Let’s start with the size. This hardcover book is an oversized book, and it is massive. You are going to need a larger book shelf. The book’s dimensions are 14.4 x 2.6 x 18.1 inches. The standard Fantagraphics Don Rosa Library volume is 8.8 x 1.1 x 11.4 inches. The content included in this deluxe edition would normally be spread across multiple volumes; therefore, the page count of this book is 568 pages. The book weighs more than a large newborn at 12.15 pounds.
The Complete Life and Times of $crooge McDuck comes with a really fancy jaw dropping slipcase that includes a replica of Scrooge McDuck’s number one dime. The book will look great on display with the most recent Don Rosa Scrooge McDuck statue release as that is the image on the front cover of the slipcase.
The book is broken up into two halves. The first half of the book is the Eisner Award Winning original 12 chapters of The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck. The second half of the book is the in-between and related stories that were printed later on in Don’s comic career. Each story has a making of section written by Don that includes detailed texts and illustrations. Readers of the Don Rosa Library volumes will be familiar with the making of sections. Don has expanded the making of sections for this deluxe edition with even more behind the scenes illustrations that have never been seen before.

Review
The Life and Times of $crooge McDuck is the Eisner Award winning biography of Scrooge McDuck’s life. It is my all time favorite collected story. I own and have read through these stories several times. It is essential reading for all fans of Scrooge McDuck. This deluxe edition is the ultimate collector’s edition for these stories. As detailed above, it is a rather large book due to all of the content that is included in this release. It would take you several different Don Rosa Library volumes to collect all of the stories in this deluxe edition. It is really nice to have all of the stories and expansive making of sections all in one place. If you have Vol 1 and 2 of The Complete Life and Times of $crooge McDuck that was published by Fantagraphics in 2019, then you have all of the stories included in the deluxe edition, but you are missing the really interesting making of sections for each story. Scrooge McDuck fans and collectors will want to own this new deluxe edition.
