Review

Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge: World of the Dragonlords will be released by Fantagraphics in November 2021. This epic twelve chapter fantasy adventure saga features some of your favorite Disney ducks: Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Daisy Duck, Gladstone Gander, and Gyro Gearloose also make brief appearances. Huey, Dewey, and Louie definitely take center stage in this tale. The trio of duck brothers training and riding dragons to save their family and new friends in another dimension should be all of the info that you need to be interested in reading this book.

The serialized twelve chapter story that make up World of the Dragonlords was originally created in English in Denmark and was first published in various German magazines. World of the Dragonlords was published by Gemstone in 2005, but it was a very low press run.

The book is 192 pages and includes some bonus material in the making of this fantasy adventure. Readers will be treated to Giorgio Cavazzano’s original preliminary sketches of some of the new characters and settings that you will encounter in your reading journey. This story has been printed in a few publications from different countries. Some of the cover artwork that was made by different artists for various publications can be found collected in this book. Other supplemental material includes a foreward by the author, Byron Erickson, which includes stories on the mighty quest that it took to get this book from idea to reality. There are also short one page write ups on the comic careers of Byron Erickson and Giorgio Cavazzano. At the end of the book, readers will be rewarded with an interview with the Disney Master, Giorgio Cavazzano, on his three year quest of illustrating World of the Dragonlords.

All of the extra behind the scenes Disney comics educational information added to an already entertaining and epic serialized twelve chapter story makes for a really solid definitive release of Worlds of the Dragonlords. All Disney duck fans should take the journey and read about how the duck family with the assistance of some dragons, a warrior, and a magician won the war against the Morgs. World of the Dragonlords turns into a great family adventure, and we know that family is the greatest adventure of all.

World of the Dragonlords was provided to me for review from our friends at Fantagraphics. All opinions are my own.
