100% Spoiler Free Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers Review

The DuckTalks podcast actually first started from a conversation that Mitch, and I had about a rumored live action Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie in 2017. Five years later, here we are finally seeing that movie.

As a D23 Gold Member in the Orlando area, I was able to attend an advanced screening of the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie at the AMC theaters at Disney Springs. All movie goers were given a full size movie poster which I was really excited about. The theater was full of fans with Rescue Rangers shirts and Dale Hawaiian shirts.

There has never been a show or movie made for Disney+ that has been promoted as much as the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie. We went fast from only receiving a trailer about the movie a couple of months ago to not being able to go on the internet without seeing a full trailer and clip ad. I was at a point where I wanted to stop watching trailers because I thought I was seeing too much and wanted to be surprised as much as possible. While there is quite a bit of the movie that you could see from the trailers, there are some amazing Baby Yoda type secret surprises that will have your jaw drop and wonder how they got away with that and get that into the movie. I would definitely stay away from social media on Friday, May 20th if you don’t want to get spoiled. There are definitely some things that people are going to spoil. You will be pointing at the screen throughout the entire movie like the Leonardo DiCaprio meme.

Lately, I have found myself either loving movies or disliking them with little in between. I won’t hate on a movie, but I would just say a movie that I disliked was just not made for me and that is OK. As a Disney Afternoon and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers enthusiasts I went into the movie with high expectations which are usually hard to meet. My hype meter was through the roof. I tried to contain expectations and emotions, but I have been waiting for this movie for years. The Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie met and may have even exceeded my already high expectations. On paper the premise for this movie would make the average person think that there is no way that it could be good or a success. This movie is going to prove a lot of people pleasantly wrong. The script is excellent, and I had a ridiculously silly grin on myself with many belly laughs throughout the entire movie. The cast and crew understood the assignment and nailed it, as the film is made for everybody. The comparisons to a modern Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie are very fair.

Most people’s pre watching the movie’s criticism has been the voices of Chip and Dale. The voices are provided by John Mulaney (Chip) and Andy Samberg (Dale). You will quickly get used to the characters’ non squeaky voices. The voices sounded natural for the characters as they appear in this movie, and you will be Mulaney and Samberg fans after the film if you were not already.

The beginning credits scenes were very very enjoyable with an already announced rendition of Post Malone singing the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers theme song. The soundtrack will be available later this week which I will definitely buy at least the theme song. There are no after credits scenes.

I am thankful that I got to see this movie on the big screen, but I can’t wait to watch it over and over again on Disney+ on Friday, May 20th. I am sure that I will be pausing the movie quite a few times to make sure that I caught everything. We will do a full review podcast in a few weeks after everyone has had a chance to watch it.

The Alvin and the Chipmunk franchise got four movies. I definitely believe that this movie is worthy of some sequels.

Bring on the merch! I hope that shopDisney is prepared for the demand this week for Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers merch as currently the only things that comes up with a Rescue Rangers search are volume 1 and 2 of the dvd sets from a few years back. Everyone is going to want a Dale CGI surgery plush.

I am looking forward to hearing everyone else’s reactions once the movie has officially dropped.
