Diamond Select Toys is busy
Bringing you a Disney Afternoon!
Our friends at Diamond Select Toys make high quality toys and collectibles. We have been reviewing impressive Kingdom Hearts, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Rocketeer, and other Disney property products from DST for a few years now. I was not expecting them to add Disney Afternoon figures to their catalog.
A few months back, someone asked Diamond Select Toys’ CEO if there was any chance for DuckTales products.
As you can see, that answer was definitely not a no for DuckTales.
Fast forward to a few months later, and Diamond Select Toys announced on their social media that a Darkwing Duck figure is coming.
The figure is being sculpted by the talented David Forrest. David posted some additional pics on his social media.
He also teased that he has designed the concept for a Negaduck figure. The picture is blurred by David until it is officially announced.
There are plenty more worthy Darkwing Duck characters that could join this figure line. The more support that Disney Afternoon fans show these initial figure releases, the better chance that other figures will be released. This could also just be the action figures from Darkwing Duck with other Disney Afternoon show figures coming to round out the figure lineup. Funko did a Disney Afternoon figure lineup a few years ago.
Another Disney Afternoon product announcement dropped on social media that a Disney’s Gargoyles Goliath Gallery PVC Diorama figure sculpted by Barry Bradfield will be coming in 2022.
I can’t wait to see what other Disney Afternoon products Diamond Select Toys will announce next. We will definitely let everyone that follows us on social media and this blog know when preorders go live for the products mentioned above.

If the illustrations are any indicator, the figure is going to look amazing.
I’m also extremely excited for the Darkwing Loungefly backpack. On November 17 of last year, I messaged Loungefly asking if they knew whether they’d be releasing any Darkwing-related merch for the following year and how it could be a good idea to put out something for the show’s 30th anniversary. They responded saying they would share my message with their production teams and while they couldn’t make promises, they would make sure my voice was heard. While it instilled some hope, nothing about their response suggested there were any plans for them putting out any Darkwing stuff for 2021, and as the months flew by and we got closer to the end of this year, it seemed increasingly clear to me this would be the case. I figured maybe in three years they would put out something, if ever. So it came as a complete surprise when exactly a year since I sent Loungefly my message, they out of nowhere dropped the announcement of releasing a Darkwing Duck backpack after all. I don’t know if they had already planned it even before I wrote to them or if it was because of the encouragement from fans like you and me that this backpack got made, but it has to be one of the nicest surprises I’ve had all this year. Between the backpack, the multiple Disney pins, the Funkoverse expansion pack, and now the announcement of a Diamond Select figure, DW’s 30th anniversary is turning out to be pretty great. : 3
