I have been hooked on the Kingdom Hearts franchise ever since playing the first release of the game on my PlayStation 2 in 2002. A Disney crossover game where you have to defeat Disney Villains and the Heartless to save many Disney magical worlds was a dream come true. Kingdom Hearts has grown a dedicated fandom over the years that includes 17 video games across 14 different platforms. The latest Kingdom Hearts video game release was Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory in November 2020.
There has been a recent resurgence of Kingdom Hearts merch releases. USAOPOLY has brought the Kingdom Hearts game to another level for board game lovers with three Kingdom Hearts themed games.
RUBIK’S Cube: Kingdom Hearts
A Kingdom Hearts RUBIK’S cube challenges fans to a classic 3D puzzle featuring Sora, Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey, Kairi, and Riku. I am not a RUBIK’s Cube key master, but this is definitely a great looking themed cube. If you can master this puzzle, you are definitely worthy to wield a Keyblade. I am not so worthy.

USAOPOLY has other great Disney themed RUBIK’s Cubes including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Disney Princesses, Disney Villains, and Hocus Pocus on their website.
Talisman: Kingdom Hearts
A collaboration between USAOPOLY and Games Workshop Ltd brought Kingdom Hearts to the Magical Quest tabletop board game genre.
Talisman: Kingdom Hearts has a very colorful game board and cards featuring fantastic art from the Kingdom Hearts game. Also included are detailed figure game pieces of eleven playable characters. Dibs on playing as Donald Duck!
This game is designed for 2-6 players, and the main goal is to seal the Door to Darkness to defeat the Heartless’ quest of consuming all of the Disney magical worlds.

Overcome Darkness with the Power of Friendship!
The harmony of a collective universe remains disrupted by the The Heartless—merciless beings set on shrouding the light of otherwise idyllic worlds. Traverse Town, Wonderland, and other beloved havens will succumb to evil if their presence isn’t contained, rendering the Realm of Light greatly endangered!
Take on the roles of Sora, Goofy, Donald, Kiari, and Riku in this cooperative dice game to reclaim the worlds of KINGDOM HEARTS. Roll different combinations to attack, defend, and heal using Keyblades, shields, and potions, overpowering each threat and sealing the Doors of Darkness forever!
What’s in the Box?
5 player boards with 15 matching pieces each, 5 health trackers, 1 Heartless marker, 14 double-sided world cards, 6 custom dice, 30 item cards, and 1 rulebook
There are five player boards for the Kingdom Hearts characters that you may choose to play as in this game: Donald Duck, Sora, Goofy, Kairi, and Riku. Each character has their own special abilities and powers.
Below is a closer look at the Donald Duck player board. Each player board has five abilities that can be used throughout the game. Donald has the following abilities: Collect, Protect, Attack, Distract, and Ability. There is a health meter at the top of his card as well as shield spaces. If a player has shields on their player card, they can choose to lose a shield for an attack instead of losing health.
Rolling the dice during your turn will help you fill in your player board card to help decide which ability you will use.
The symbols on the dice from left to right represent: Attack, Protect, Distract, Collect, Ability, and Heartless. There is also a crown side of the dice that acts as a wild.
The game comes with 14 double-sided World cards representing different worlds from Kingdom Hearts I-III. You will randomly choose six world cards at the beginning of the game to save (1 Level One World, 2 Level Two Worlds, and 3 Level Three Worlds). Each World card features a unique capture track to follow to save the world from the Heartless.
The game can end in three ways:
- Players win if six Worlds have been saved from the Heartless.
- Players lose if any two Worlds are overrun.
- Players lose if any one player’s Health is reduced to zero.
Where to Buy?
Kingdom Hearts: Perilous Pursuit officially releases on 11/3/21, and the game can be preordered on USAOPOLY’s website for $29.99.

Final Thoughts
I really love what USAOPOLY is doing with the Kingdom Hearts license. The three games mention above are all really different ways for the Kingdom Hearts to extend their fandom of the franchise into the board game realm. I am sure that USAOPOLY will be doing even more with the franchise down the line.
Kingdom Hearts: Perilous Pursuit is a well designed board game. The gameplay fits the Kingdom Hearts theme well. It is a fun dice game that is not overly complicated and won’t stress you out. It is an easy recommend for Kingdom Hearts fans.
