Beast Kingdom’s D-Stage product line gives popular characters a diorama stage to bring more life to your figure collection without taking up additional space. There is a lot of details poured into each of these 7 inch scale figures. Our friends at Beast Kingdom sent over some D-Stage samples for us to showcase on the blog.
Today we will be taking a look at Beast Kingdom’s D-Stage figure for the 1935 classic Mickey Mouse animated short The Band Concert. The Band Concert stars Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Clarabelle Cow, and Horace Horsecollar as they attempt to put on a concert in the park. The Band Concert was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon in color. The animated short is available to stream on Disney+.

Packaging
All Beast Kingdom D-Stage figures come in clear plastic boxes which prominently displays all sides except for the back of the figure. You could display this figure in box if you really wanted to, but my recommendation would be to take it out of the box to enjoy all of the details.

Mickey Mouse The Band Concert (DS-047)
I can almost hear the music come from this figure.

The back of D-Stage figures always have fun hidden details. Inside Mickey’s band stand are a bunch of flutes. In The Band Concert, Mickey gets angry at Donald do playing his flute to a different tune than what he is conducting his band to play. Mickey breaks flute after flute that Donald magically produces. There is also a drum in the back of the figure which is the musical instrument that Horace Horsecollar plays in the band.

Mickey conducts his band of barnyard animals. I would love to see Band Concert Mickey in Beast Kingdom’s DAH figure line.

Donald plays his flute while a bee attacks him. I love that the bee made it onto this figure on Donald’s flute. Donald’s look is a little more modern on the figure than in the 1935, The Band Concert, animated short. There is also a drum played by Horace Horsecollar and a trumpet played by Peter Pig included on the diorama stage. Fun Fact: Donald Duck, voiced by Clarence Nash, is the only character to speak in this cartoon.

Goofy is depicted playing the trumpet as part of this figure. In The Band Concert, an unnamed dog plays the trumpet and Goofy actually plays the clarinet.

Final Thoughts
The Band Concert is a historic Disney animated short, and it is often listed as one of the top Mickey Mouse cartoons. This was also one of Donald Duck’s early breakout shorts. I think it is great that Beast Kingdom included The Band Concert in their D-Stage product line. At this point, you could also get the Steamboat Willie, Sorcerer Mickey, and Clock Cleaners D-Stage figures to have a great start to a Mickey thru the years collection of figures.
