Max Funko POP Review

GameStop sold Funko mystery boxes last year on Black Friday, and each mystery box contained a randomly inserted Disney Afternoon character: Megavolt (Darkwing Duck), Wildcat (TaleSpin), Max (Goof Troop), Monterey Jack (Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers), Angela (Gargoyles). Each of these five characters also had an even rarer chase figure variant randomly inserted into these mystery boxes. The Monterey Jack and Max Funko POP figures are the first to be released from their series. I believe we will have a lot of Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and Goof Troop to look forward to this year.

Let’s take a closer look at the standard Max Funko POP figure and the chase Max Funko POP figure from Goof Troop. As an added bonus, we will check out the Powerline Funko POP figure from A Goofy Movie that was exclusive to Hot Topic last year.

Here we see a side by side shot of the boxes. The chase figure has a Limited Edition Chase sticker.

The back of both boxes are identical. The back box art features a promo picture from A Goof Troop with Goofy and Max. A Goof Troop version of Goofy has not been released yet.

Here is a look at the front and back of the standard Max Goof figure.

The only difference between the standard edition figure and the chase figure is that Max is holding his skateboard in the chase figure edition.

It really is a toss up on which version of the figure is the better figure. I don’t think this will be the last time that we see Max as a Funko POP figure because Funko has not officially released a Goof Troop series of Funko POPs yet, and there will be a lot of fans that maybe did not pick up this GameStop exclusive.

In addition to a Goof Troop series of figures, I would love to see Funko release some more A Goofy Movie figures. We at least need a Goofy and Max Funko POP figure to go along with the amazing Powerline Funko POP figure that was released last summer as a Hot Topic exclusive. (Note: Max has a slightly different look in A Goofy Movie.)

Final Thoughts

I love this Max Funko POP figure. Max is such a classic Disney Afternoon character voiced by Dana Hill (Goof Troop) and Jason Marsden (A Goofy Movie). There are plenty of Max Funko POP figures available on the secondary market on eBay for reasonably low prices. The standard Max Funko POP figure should be enough for your collection unless you just have to have everything. Happy Hunting!

Bonus Review

Let’s take a look at that stand out Powerline figure.

Here is a look at the front and back of the Powerline figure.

Powerline is among my favorite Funko POP figures released last year. You could display Powerline next to either of the Max figures.

In this case, I would have to say that the standard edition Max Funko POP figure definitely would look better next to Powerline.
