Fantagraphics Disney Masters Collection

We already know that the Carl Barks Library and the Don Rosa Library published by Fantagraphics is a must have and essential reading for all Disney Duck fans, but have you heard of the new Disney Masters collection.

Our friends at Fantagraphics launched the Disney Masters collection in May 2018.

Fantagraphics presents Disney Masters – acclaimed artists from around the world working in the grand Walt Disney tradition. Many of these stories are new to American readers and appear here for the first time in English. Fresh new artwork, fresh new adventures, and fresh new laughs!

So far Fantagraphics, has released three volumes in the Disney Masters series with the fourth volume releasing on August 7th.

Fantagraphics is alternating volume releases between Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge stories.

Disney Masters Vol. 1: Mickey Mouse: The Delta Dimension

Disney Masters Vol. 2: Donald Duck: Uncle Scrooge’s Money Rocket

Disney Masters Vol. 3: Mickey Mouse: The Case of the Vanishing Bandit

Disney Masters Vol. 4: Donald Duck: The Great Survival Test

Future volumes announced include:

Disney Masters Vol. 5: Mickey Mouse: The Phantom Blot’s Double Mystery

Disney Masters Vol. 6: Uncle Scrooge: King of the Golden River

Disney Masters Vol. 7: Mickey Mouse: The Pirates of Tabasco Bay

At DuckTalks, we are on a quest to educate ourselves on all things Disney Ducks so that one day we can earn our Disney Duck Ducktorate degree in Disney Duck comics. We will be reading these books and have articles and reviews on the duck releases in the Disney Masters series soon. All of the stories look sensational, so we may even have some reviews on the Mickey Mouse stories later on down the line.

We invite you to join us on this journey to read along with us.

  1. Also noticed that they are releasing these as box sets in October, with different configurations.

For example, customers can choose to purchase sets that collect the books chronologically (Vol.1-2, Vol.3-4), or by character (Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck).

Personally, I hope these releases are successful. There are many great artists out there who deserve spotlight collections.

Nothing against Barks and Rosa, but it’d be nice to have some additional variety.
