I remember it like it was only yesterday… December had just rolled around, and the entire family was camped out on the couch waiting for the latest episode of DuckTales 2017 to air. We had just experienced an excruciating break in new episodes, and we were ready for more adventures with Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby. It was a blast, finally seeing the “unnamed Huey centric” episode that we had heard about from Frank Angones when the show first started airing in September. But… it’s been three months since the last new episode of DuckTales aired on Disney XD… and we thought that first hiatus was rough!
Although the show has experienced a very lengthy break, one thing has been consistent since last September, the monthly DuckTales comic books published by IDW. These comics have been great. We read a few stories from before the pilot that included the nephews with Donald and even a few with Scrooge, Della, and Donald adventuring. The last few issues have given us additional stories of the DuckTales family (including Launchpad!) that have fulfilled some of our longings for more DT17.
The writers and artists who have worked on this comic are wonderful, and each issue has offered us two stories of adventure and mystery. Not only that, but each issue has offered at least three covers. DuckTales is a great all-ages comic that can be enjoyed by a parent sharing comics with their child for the first time, a new reader, or anyone else who enjoys fun adventures with Disney Ducks.
Anyway, I said all of that to say this. If you like DuckTales 2017 and you haven’t been reading these books you are missing out. They are very enjoyable and we recommend them to any fan. Not only that, they are a great gift for your kids, grandkids, sister’s kids, or your neighbor’s kids. What I am getting at, is grab this book when you can find it, and share it.
DuckTales #7 comes out this week (Wednesday March 14th). Issue #6 was my favorite issue of the series, but I am expecting issue #7 to be the best issue starting next Wednesday. Ask you local comic shop if they will be receiving any, if not check out your Barnes & Noble, and if that doesn’t work for you consider trying this issue in a digital format at Comixology.com.
