Dynamite Comics Disney Collected Editions

We have been covering the Dynamite Comics Disney title releases since the release of Gargoyles #1 in December 2022. In two years, Dynamite has launched thirteen different Disney comic series:

  • Gargoyles
  • Darkwing Duck
  • Disney Villains: Scar
  • Disney Villains: Maleficent
  • Gargoyles: Dark Ages
  • Disney Villains: Hades
  • Negaduck
  • Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil
  • Justice Ducks
  • Lilo & Stitch
  • Hercules
  • Gargoyles Quest
  • DuckTales

As of the writing of this blog, those Dynamite Comics Disney series have produced seventy-nine different individual issues. I am not going to even attempt to count how many different variant covers. I love collecting the monthly floppy issues of these comics from my local comic book shop each week, but adding the trade paperback and hardcover collection editions to the library shelf is always the end goal. Collected editions of all of the individual issues for each series are never guaranteed, and it is always my recommendation to support the comic series by investing yourself into the individual issues. The release dates of the collected paperback and hardcover editions are also very unpredictable. Some of those Dynamite Comics Disney series have recently released collected Trade Paperback/Hardcover Editions.

This article will catalog which Dynamite Disney comic series have had collected editions releases.

Gargoyles

We have been living again through the Dynamite Comics Gargoyles comic series since December 2022. There was a total of twelve issues in Greg Weisman’s Here in Manhattan story illustrated by George Kambadais. Gargoyles also received a Halloween Special Issue and a Winter Special Issue will be released this December.

Gargoyles Here in Manhattan Vol. 1 collects issues #1-6 and was released in paperback, hardcover, and hardcover signature editions signed by Greg Weisman. Each collected edition For Gargoyles Vol. 1 had a different featured cover artist. The paperback edition features David Nakayama’s cover from Gargoyles #1. The hardcover edition features Amanda Conner’s cover from Gargoyles #1. The Hardcover signature edition features Jae Lee’s cover from Gargoyles #1. Special features include a complete cover gallery and behind the scenes process page samples of the script matched up with illustrations from a few of the issues. I have pictures of the hardcover signature and paperback editions below for comparison.

Gargoyles Here in Manhattan Vol. 2 will collect issues #7-12 and will tentatively be released in January 2025 in trade paperback and hardcover editions. Both collected editions feature David Nakayama’s cover from Gargoyles #6.

There is always a chance that Dynamite could release an oversized edition that includes both volumes to make up the entire series which could match the Gargoyles books releases of the other original Marvel Gargoyles series, SLG Gargoyles series, and Gargoyles Bad Guys series.

Gargoyles: Dark Ages

Gargoyles: Dark Ages gave us the gift of a prequel to the Gargoyles animated series. Gargoyles: Dark Ages was a five issue series written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by Drew Moss. The collected release of this series will be tentatively released in February 2025 in paperback and hardcover editions. The covers of both the paperback and hardcover editions are by Clayton Crain.

Gargoyles: Dark Ages would also be a great candidate for an oversized collector’s edition to match the other Gargoyles releases.

Gargoyles Quest

Gargoyles Quest was a five issue series written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by Drew Moss. The collected release of this series will be tentatively released in April 2025 in paperback and hardcover editions. The covers of both the paperback and hardcover editions are by Clayton Crain.

Darkwing Duck

Darkwing Duck Vol. 1: F.O.W.L. Play collects issues #1-6 and was released in paperback, hardcover, and hardcover signature editions signed by Amanda Deibert. Each collected edition for Darking Duck Vol. 1 has a different cover. The paperback edition features David Nakayama’s cover from Darkwing Duck #1. The hardcover edition features David Nakayama’s cover from Darkwing Duck #2. The Hardcover signature edition features Lerix’s cover from Darkwing Duck #1. Special features include a complete cover gallery. I have pictures of the hardcover and paperback editions below for comparison.

Darkwing Duck Vol. 2: The Justice Ducks collects issues #7-10 and was released in trade paperback and hardcover editions. Special features include a complete cover gallery. Both collected editions feature Mirka Andolfo cover from Darkwing Duck #6.

Here are some pictures of both volumes of the Dynamite Comics Darkwing Duck hardcover collection books.

An oversized collector’s edition titled Cowl and FOWL which collects the entire ten issue Darkwing Duck series was available in Dynamite Comics’ Darkwing Duck Kickstarter. That collector’s edition came in paperback, hardcover, and hardcover signature editions signed by Amanda Deibert.

Negaduck

Negaduck was a surprise spin off series starring a member of the Darkwing Duck rogue gallery of villains and the leader of the Fearsome Five, Negaduck, written by Jeff Parker and illustrated by Ciro Cangialosi.

Disney Villains

There have been four delightfully devilish comic series from Dynamite featuring the real heroes of some of my favorite Disney animated classics: Scar, Maleficent, Hades, and Cruella DeVil.

Disney Villains: Scar was a four issues series written by Chuck Brown and illustrated by Trevor Fraley. The collected release of this series will be tentatively released in March 2025 in digest sized paperback and hardcover editions.

Disney Villains: Maleficent was a five issue series written and illustrated by Soo Lee. The collected release of this series is available in digest size paperback and hardcover. Special features include a complete cover gallery.

Disney Villains: Hades was a five issue series written by Elliott Kalan and illustrated by Alessandro Ranaldi. The collected release of this series is available in digest size paperback and hardcover. Special features include a complete cover gallery. The covers of both the paperback and hardcover editions feature Jae Lee’s cover for Disney Villains: Hades #1.

Disney Villains: Cruella DeVil was a five issue series written by Sweeney Boo and illustrated by Miriana Puglia. The collected release of this series will be tentatively released in January 2025 in digest sized paperback and hardcover editions. The covers of both the paperback and hardcover editions are by Sweeney Boo.

Here are some pictures of all of the currently released Dynamite Comics Disney Villains books together.

As stated above, the Dynamite Comics Disney Villains paperbacks and hardcovers collected editions are digest sized (6.3 x 9.25 inches). The other Dynamite Comics Disney collected editions except for Lilo & Stitch are standard comic book size (7 x 11 inches).

Lilo & Stitch

Lilo & Stitch Vol. 1: Ohana collects issues #1-4 and was released in digest sized paperback and hardcover editions. The covers of both the paperback and hardcover editions are by Joshua Middleton.

Lilo & Stitch Vol. 2: Ohana collects issues #5-8 and will tentatively be released in May 2025 in digest sized trade paperback and hardcover editions.

Hercules

Hercules Vol. 1: The Monster Hunter collects issues #1-6 and will tentatively be released in April in paperback and hardcover editions.

DuckTales

DuckTales is a recent Dynamite comic series written by Brandon Montclare and illustrated by Tommaso Rando. We are a long way from a collected edition release. DuckTales…Woo-oo!

Overview

Here is a look at the current book stack of available Dynamite Disney comic series collection hardcovers.

Now you need to decide if you want a paperback of hardcover. It all comes down to your personal preference. Both look great on the shelf, and it is really nice to have all of the issues bound together in one book.

I hope that you enjoyed this overview of which collected series are available. I will continue to update this page as more Dynamite Comics Disney comic series collected editions are released.

  1. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s a scam that Dynamite’s second and third Kickstarter volumes for Darkwing Duck are reprinting their own series and its spin-offs, on account of Dynamite has ALREADY been putting out hardcover collections for their series, thereby making the Kickstarter versions redundant. If anything, the Kickstarter collections SHOULD include the Darkwing comics from Disney Adventures and the Boom! Studios/Joe Books run (and seeing how the campaign got like more than four times its goal fund, they really have no excuse to not also include those).

    • Dynamite does have the option to reprint other Darkwing Duck series in future kickstarters or direct releases if they are approved to do so. I know that all Darkwing fans would love to have a complete comics collection that includes everything. The BOOM and Joe Books collections definitely deserve an oversized collectors edition release. On the flip side, I know Gargoyles fans are going to want oversized collection releases of the new Dynamite Gargoyles comics to match the classic collection books that were a part of the Gargoyles Kickstarter.
