The first Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World guide launched in 1981. Forty years and 10 millions copies sold later, Birnbaum’s 2022 Walt Disney World: The Official Vacation Guide was recently released to get vacationers prepared for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
There is no worse stress than vacation stress. When you are on a vacation that you have saved a lot of money for, the last thing that you want is to get stressed out and have arguments with your family due to not enough planning. If this book informs you about one thing that you did not know prior to your vacation to cause less stress, then it will have been worth it.
The very first “Hot Tip” in this book tells you to download the My Disney Experience app and to visit disneyworld.com for updates. I would also add to check the Disney Parks blog website (disneyparks.disney.go.com) and follow Disney Parks Blog on social media.
You have to have advance planning when going to Walt Disney World nowadays, and the Birnbaum’s 2022 Walt Disney World: The Official Vacation Guide is a great way to get you started with dreaming up your vacation.
Here are some of the helpful items included in this year’s guide:
- insider tips on how to see and do it all-and according to enhanced health and safety measures
- detailed descriptions on all attractions, resorts, and eateries
- money-saving strategies
- a fold-out property map on the inside back cover
- get the scoop on what’s new at Walt Disney World
- the latest additions to your “must-do” lists: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
- epic new resorts: Disney’s Riviera Resort and the forthcoming Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience
It is worth noting that there is some information in this book that might be slightly outdated. Birnbaum’s 2022 Walt Disney World: The Official Vacation Guide was released in September, and it was printed sometime before that. There have been many new announcements this month for Walt Disney World’s 18 month 50th anniversary celebration that did not make it into this book. Disney announced it’s new annual pass program the same month this book was released. Fastpass+ is referenced throughout the book. Fastpass+ has not been available since March 2020. This is why that first “Hot Tip” of downloading the My Disney Experience App and checking the waltdisneyworld.com is so important.
As someone who is often asked for advice or information on Walt Disney World, there are a lot of questions that I get asked that are fully covered in this book:
When is the best time to go to Walt Disney World? The first chapter of the book “Getting Ready to Go” breaks down what events go on at Walt Disney World each month of the year. It will detail to you the crowd and weather patterns from previous years. This chapter also provides sample schedules for each of the four major theme parks for planning your days. This is definitely the most helpful chapter of the book.
Which Walt Disney World Resort should I stay at? The next chapter of the book is “Transportation and Accommodations”. All resorts including the newest one, Disney’s Riviera Resort are detailed in this chapter. There is also a handy breakdown for each resort that lists what theme park(s) the resort is closest to, setting theme, favored by, romantic hideaways, kids adore, dining tips, and resort category/amenities. This should make the reader’s decision in picking a resort a breeze.
The next few chapters will help you get oriented to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Sports and Recreation. There is also a section about special tours and programs including WDW Specialty Cruises that readers might not know about.
Where should I eat? There is a chapter in the book that highlights in great detail every restaurant and bar at Walt Disney World.
The final chapter is a bonus chapter for those interested in booking a cruise on Disney Cruise which I highly recommend.
Birnbaum’s 2022 Walt Disney World: The Official Vacation Guide would be a great vacation planning guide for you to pickup if this is your first Walt Disney World Vacation or if it has been a few years since your last visit. The book will give you a head start on your vacation planning, but as mentioned above you will definitely want to check the waltdisneyworld.com website and My Disney Experience App in addition to this book as entertainment and experience options may change during “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” Good luck on your Walt Disney World vacation planning.
