Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida have officially reopened to guests able to book a reservation. This weekend we watched YouTubers and bloggers as they reported to Disney Park fans around the world.
Parks’ fans want to know about the current safety of the parks, what has changed, and is it worth visiting the parks?
WDW parks and all Disney parks around the globe closed over the past few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has brought life as we knew it to a halt. Walt Disney World closed on March 31, 2020 due to the threat of the virus to guests and Cast Members, and they reopened on Saturday July 11th with a new reservation system to limit the number of attendees.
One question we have wondered at DuckTalks was what would become of Donald’s Dino-Bash in WDW’s Animal Kingdom theme park. The bash began in 2018 as a temporary meet and greet area for AK in DinoLand USA, but due to it popularity it became permanent. The Bash is significant to DuckTalks because besides brand new costumes for Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Chip, and Dale the area also included meet and greets for Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad! It has also been the setting of some pretty magical moments for us when we visited the parks. Over the past couple of years the Bash has included a dance party that eventually ended due to entertainment cuts at the park.

We knew that with the opening of the WDW parks there would be many changes to protect both guests and Cast Members. One that we expected was that there would be no more meet and greets, at least at the reopening.
As we watched during previews and the reopening of AK, we were pleased to see that Disney had a plan to include walk around characters even if they couldn’t get close to the guests. At Animal Kingdom characters are driven around the water ways on pontoon boats, and one is themed for Donald’s Dino-Bash!
We are glad to see Donald, Daisy, and Launchpad greeting guests from Animal Kingdom’s water ways, and we hope this is an indication that Donald’s Dino-Bash will return once character meet and greets are determined to be safe.
We have seen images of Goofy on the float, but at the time of writing this blog I haven’t seen anything with Scrooge McDuck.
Past Articles on Donald’s Dino-Bash!
My guess is since Scrooge is in a vulnerable group (people aged over 150) it’s not safe for him to come back yet. XD

I think that tracks! I do hope he returns in the future. Being able to meet Scrooge McDuck at the Bash was a highlight of our second trip to the parks.
My girls will never forget having the opportunity to take him off stage.
