Mondo announced earlier this year that they were going to start a series of Disney tiki mugs. The two mugs that were initially teased were Mickey as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Scrooge McDuck.
The Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey Tiki mug went up as a timed release preorder in July around the time of SDCC. The final product was a great looking multicolor tiki mug that retailed for $80. The Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey Tiki mug is expected to ship out in Jan to buyers that preordered.
The Scrooge McDuck Tiki mug recently went live for preorder on Mondo’s website.
The Tiki mug features a Duck Beak Orange coloring to outline all of the mug sculptured details.
The back of the mug is Scrooge’s Money Bin and a Beagle Boy hiding in the bushes. If you plan on drinking out of this mug, the mug will hold 24 ounces of your beverage of choice.
I have heard mixed reactions from the coloring on this mug, but the Duck Beak Orange coloring makes sense. The DuckTales (1987) series logo was also orange. Also, this Scrooge McDuck mug is also $40 which is half of what the multi colored Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey mug cost. Shipping cost to my location was a reasonable $12. Unfortunately, international shipping is not available.
Variants
There will be at least two variants of this mug.
If you read Mondo’s website, they make the statement:
“This regular edition of the Scrooge McDuck Tiki Mug features a Duck Beak Orange Wipe. Woo-hoo!”

Brock Otterbacher from Mondo mentioned on Instagram that there will be “silver and gold chrome” variant releases. When will they be in stock? “In a month or so.” So be on a look out, and we will of course let you know when we see that they are available.

Other Mondo Disney Afternoon Items
While you are on Mondo’s website, you may want to check out some of the Disney Afternoon pin releases. Along with the new Scrooge McDuck Tiki mug, Mondo has released 4 new DuckTales enamel pins. Magica is a two pin set for $12, and the rest of the pins are $10.
There was also a Disney Afternoon pin set released this summer. All individual pins except for Darkwing Duck are still available on Mondo’s website. Each pin in the Disney Afternoon collection is $10.
Final Thoughts
I am definitely purchasing one of the Scrooge McDuck Tiki mugs. It is all a matter of deciding on the regular edition or one of the variants or all of them. I really love what Mondo has done with their Disney tiki mug series so far. Other planned future releases of which we have seen previews for already are Simba, Scar, and Ariel.
