New York Comic Con will take place October 3-6, 2019. Funko has finally revealed which exclusive Disney figures will be available from NYCC this year. The first figure will be a limited edition of 1500 Mickey riding the Disneyland Matterhorn figure. The second figure released will be Donald Duck from the 1946 Carl Barks comic story Fireman Donald.
Fireman Donald will be a Fall Convention shared exclusive with Barnes and Noble. Convention exclusive Funko POP! figures usually sell for $15.
Carl Bark’s Fireman Donald Story first appeared in Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories #86 (November 1947). Donald Duck becomes a volunteer firefighter in Fireman Donald. He starts off in a role as the first hoseman on the ladder truck, and he gets demoted several times for being late to the fire or for making mistakes.
The story was later republished by Gladstone Comics.
Fireman Donald is also collected in Fantagraphics The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 5: Christmas on Bear Mountain which is already a must own volume because it contains the very first story to feature Scrooge McDuck. Here is our review on that volume:
The Complete Carl Barks Disney Library Vol. 5: Christmas on Bear Mountain Review
This new figure mold looks great, and it is a big step up from the original Donald Duck Funko POP! figure released in 2012.
Donald also had a few Funko POP! figure releases for the Kingdom Hearts video game series.
So what do you think of this new Donald Duck Funko POP! Figure release? Will you be adding it to your collection.
Thanks for sharing. I’m definitely going to pick this up.
