Happy TaleSpin Thursday!
Today, we will take a look at the different Baloo Funko releases.
Funko introduces Baloo and King Louie POP figures in 2013. In 2014, they added more Jungle Book characters with Mowgli, Kaa, and Shere Khan. The series has been retired.
I unfortunately do not have the original Baloo Funko POP figure, so here is a look at the stock photo from that original release.
Funko Pint Size Heroes
In the Spring of 2016, Funko released it’s first Disney series of a new line that they call Pint Size Heroes. Disney Series 1 of Pint Size Heroes included 18 characters from Disney/Pixar films. Three of those characters were from the Jungle Book: Mowgli, Baloo, and King Louie.
An artist friend of mine, Raynaldo Perez (@Kirdein), customized my Baloo Pint Size Hero to TaleSpin Baloo.
Here is a side by side pic of the two Baloo Funko Pint Size Heroes.
Funko Mystery Minis
Funko released a Disney Afternoon Mystery Minis Series in the Fall of 2017. The series included figures from DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Chip n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, and TaleSpin. The four characters from TaleSpin were Baloo, Louie, Kit Cloudkicker, and Shere Khan.
Funko Action Figure
Funko released a series of Disney Afternoon action figures in the Winter of 2017. The series included figures from DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, and TaleSpin. Baloo was the character chosen to represent TaleSpin.
Funko POP!
Funko recently released a TaleSpin series of POPs that includes Baloo, Louie, Kit Cloudkicker, Rebecca Cunningham, and Shere Khan. Louie had a chase variant figure with a repaint of his Hawaiian shirt that had a rarity of 1:6 in cases. Funko also released two TailSpin exclusives. A flocked Baloo POP figure is exclusive to Target. NYCC had a different pose of Shere Khan that was a shared exclusive with GameStop.
Here is a look at the regular Baloo Funko POP from the TaleSpin series.
Target’s exclusive was a flocked version of TaleSpin Baloo. The flocked Baloo is my favorite figure from the TaleSpin series of Funko POP figures.
Here is a comparison pic with the two versions of the TaleSpin Baloo Funko POPs.
When the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers Funko POP Series is released, I could totally see them releasing flocked versions of the figures as well.
We will be back next week with another tale to spin!
