Episode 11 of DuckTales, “Beware the B.U.D.D.Y System!”, delivered an epic opening scene from St. Canard which featured the terror that flaps in the night, Darkwing Duck. Yes, Darkwing Duck made his much anticipated DuckTales debut and it was glorious.
I am not going to go into the context of the scene in case Duck fans have not seen the episode yet. Instead, I am going to reveal the voice actors for Darkwing Duck, Quackerjack, Megavolt, and the Liquidator according to the credits listed on the DuckTales IMDB page.
Darkwing Duck is voiced by the same legendary voice actor that brought him to life in the original Darkwing Duck series, Jim Cummings. Jim Cummings is Darkwing Duck, and I can’t imagine anyone else in this role. Jim Cummings is Disney Afternoon royalty. According to IMDB, Jim Cummings will also provide the voice for Don Karnage which he also provided his voice in TaleSpin. Jim is credited for 3 episodes in DuckTales (2017) Season 1 so we will most likely see Darkwing Duck again in a future episode this season.
Quackerjack is voiced by Michael Bell. Michael Bell also provided Quackerjack’s original voice in the original Darkwing Duck series. It is great to hear Michael Bell back in the role of this popular Darkwing Duck antagonist. Michael is only credited for 1 episode so this will most likely be Quackerjacks only appearance this season.
Megavolt is voiced by Keith Ferguson. Keith Ferguson voices several characters in DuckTales including my favorite, Flintheart Glomgold. Keith also is responsible for providing the voice for my favorite Overwatch character, Reaper, which earns him bonus points in my book. Dan Castellanetta was the original voice of Megavolt, but Keith’s Megavolt sounds very similar to Dan’s rendition. So similar in fact that I had to look it up on IMDB which inspired me to compose this blog entry. Dan is a well known voice actor who is the voice of Homer J. Simpson and the Genie from Aladdin the series and the Return of Jafar. This was most likely Megavolt’s only appearance of the season.
The Liquidator is voiced by Corey Burton. Corey Burton also provided the voice of B.U.D.D.Y the robot who is the main antagonist of this episode. The Liquidator was originally voiced by Jack Angel in the original Darkwing Duck series. The Liquidator does not have any actual lines in this episode, but he does make sounds for what Corey Burton is credited for. This was most likely the Liquidator’s only appearance of the season.
The Darkwing Duck opening scene was epic, and I hope it will lead to Darkwing Duck’s own rebooted series in the future.
What did you think of the opening scene of Beware the B.U.D.D.Y System!?
