Disney Afternoon Action Figures!

My childhood best friend shared my enthusiasm for the Disney Afternoon (or afternoon cartoons in general). Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, Tailspin, and Darkwing Duck were our favorite shows at the height of the Disney Afternoon.

I remember showing up at his house one evening and he had just opened Darkwing Duck action figures. I couldn’t believe we could play out our own miniature adventures around a St. Canard that was made-up of his bed, desk, and dresser.

I have since looked for these figures online, and I’ve been disappointed to find that they do not come cheap (and most without that signature hat).

This week Funko has solved my problem with the announcement of a Disney Afternoon action figure toyline. These licensed products were most likely planned for a very long time, but there is no doubt the success of Disney XD’s DuckTales reboot will boost the success of these figures.

Scrooge come equipped with his signature cane and an money bag.

Dale comes with fellow Rescue Ranger Zipper!

Chip has his Indiana Jones hat.

And Baloo appears to be larger in size (based on the packaging.)
In this collection, Funko has offered some of the best characters the Disney Afternoon blessed us with. We are hoping this represents wave 1 and that some of the secondary characters will come after the success of this release. We can look forward to playing with (or admiring in the Box, on the wall) Scrooge McDuck, Darkwing Duck, Baloo, Chip , and Dale. There is also a 1 in 6 Darkwing chase figure of the fan popular Nagatron. From the episode that gave the writers the idea for Negaduck.

DW is equipped with his trusty gas gun, cape and hat.

The figures are available for preorder at popinabox.com and Pirate Steven has shared a special discount on your first order if you follow the link! The figures are available in November.
Do you plan on purchasing one or all of these figures? Will you open and play with them? Have you spotted them on a retailer’s site? Join the conversation below in the comments or on Twitter @DuckTalks
