Fantagraphics has been putting on Disney Comics educational clinics with their Disney hardcover books teaching us the history of Disney comics and introducing us to international stories translated to English for the first time. Now they are bringing monthly issues to your local comic book store to consume.
Today, we will take a look at Uncle Scrooge #4 (Legacy #464) published by Fantagraphics.

Release Date: January 21st, 2026
Covers: Kari Korhonen, Michael Nadorp
There are three stories in this issue:
- The McDuck Diaries: The Klondike Years
- Mush!
- The Invisible Intruder (Excerpt)
The McDuck Diaries: The Klondike Years was originally published in Finnish Aku Ankka 2019-32. This is the first time the story is being published in the USA. The story is written and illustrated by Kari Korhonen. The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa is my favorite book of all time. The story is a fascinating and entertaining look at Scrooge’s younger years and the experiences that he had to make him tougher than the toughies, smarter than the smarties, and sharper than the sharpies. The McDuck Diaries: The Klondike Years add supplemental diary entries into the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck using familiar characters that passed Scrooge’s path as well as some new characters in the same time and settings as Don Rosa’s classic stories. The Klondike Years is broken into five chapters: Home Sweet Home, Dawson or Bust, Law of the North, Dime Novels, and Family Matters. The diary entries are around 8 pages each. While not on the same legendary level as Don Rosa’s tales, Kari Korhonen’s stories offer entertaining insights into what Scrooge might have been up to in between The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck chapters during the fan favorite Scrooge era, the Klondike Years. I am looking forward to reading additional stories into Scrooge McDuck’s core character development years.
Mush! was originally published in American Uncle Scrooge #13 (1955). The story is written and illustrated by Carl Barks. This is a one pager where Scrooge uses the term “Mush!” to guide his sled dogs in the Klondike, and he also uses the term “Mush!”to order his cheap meal at the Dawson Cafe.
The Invisible Intruder (Excerpt) was originally published in American Uncle Scrooge #44 (1963). The story is written by Vic Lockman, and illustrated by Carl Barks. This is another one pager where a very young Scrooge sleeps in a drawer and vows to one day have enough money to buy his own bed. He quickly earns enough money from hard work shining shoes to get his bed.
