Marvel has been crushing it lately with the addition of some of our favorite Disney characters to their lineup of comics. Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime was followed up with seven Marvel & Disney: What If…? issues where Mickey and Friends got to live their epic Marvel super hero dreams. Now we get a new Uncle Scrooge tale, Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck, which links up with the events that took place in Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime. Unlike the other recent Marvel & Disney collaborations which were all one shots, Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck is a four issue mini series. The series will be written by Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime writer, Jason Aaron, and illustrated by a team of talented artists.

My Recap and Review

The story within Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck #3 is titled “Smoke Through a Keyhole”. The first eight pages are illustrated by Adam Kubert. Scrooge dives into the coins in his Money Bin for a nice leisurely swim. Each coin represents a memory of the adventure that Scrooge was on when he earned every individual coin in the bin. The coins turn into quicksand. Three Scroogeverse Scrooges fish Scrooge out of his coins. One is the Scrooge that owned a bargain bin circus, Big Top McDuck. Another is a Scrooge that got away with using an expired coupon. The third Scrooge is the greatest sea angler that ever lived, Sharks Scrooge. Our hero Scrooge does not recognize any of these Scrooges. Scrooge socks the other Scrooges in the face with the chained up box that he obtained from the pages of the first issue. These Scrooges are cyborgs that work for the Connoisseurs who are after his money. Scrooge is rescued by a ladder from a hot air balloon which is carrying the familiar Scrooges from the first two issues. These are all Scrooges that you would recognize from The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.

In pages drawn by Claudio Sciarrone, we see Scrooge is revealed to be strapped again to a table as a prisoner of the Connoisseurs. They also have Donald Duck in their evil clutches. The Woodchucks Resitance made up of Huey, Dewey, and Louie are going to rescue their Uncles.

David Lafuente takes over illustration duties to show us that all of Scrooge McDuck’s former self memories sacrifice themselves by jumping out of the hot air balloon to lighten the load and fight the coin operated robot army of the Connoisseurs. The hero Scrooge floats away to safety which triggers the awaken of the current time Scrooge who was strapped to the table. Scrooge means business and activates the Money Bin’s security by saying the voice recognition password. Blasters pop up and Scrooge along with Donald, Gladstone, Huey, Dewey, and Louie blast their way out of the Money Bin. The subconscious Scrooge in the hot air balloon opens the locked box, and we are in for what should be an epic finale issue when the adventure continues next month.

The final chapter of Marvel’s Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck arrives in comic shops in November. Preordering your books at your local comic book shop is always recommended.
