My Recap

*STOP READING HERE IF YOU WANT TO AVOID ALL SPOILERS*

The five part story “Four Corners of Your World” concludes in this issue. The prior issues have taken Scrooge and his nephews all over the city of Duckburg in search of the greatest treasure. Some of the Duckburg locations visited include Scrooge’s Money Bin, McDuck Manor, Scrooge-A-Rama Dome Theater, Duckburg City Jail, and Duckburg Public Library. Part Five is named “…The More Things Stay The Same”. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are looking at the maps that they found at the Duckburg Public Library. The maps are all the same as they are of the city of Duckburg. Scrooge tells the boys that he has already found the greatest treasure and brought it to Duckburg. Their reply is that their treasure hunt is lame if all of the treasure has already been found. They return to McDuck Manor. Scrooge has a flashback comic story titled “Help Wanted” in which Scrooge is placing his Scrooge money symbol on top of his money bin as well as trying to fill the money bin with a coin. He realizes that he needs some help around McDuck Manor and runs a Help Wanted ad in the Duckburg newspaper. Scrooge could just try and do everything himself, but you can tell that he is starting to get a little lonely, Duckworth answers the ad and gets hired as Scrooge’s assistant, butler, chauffeur, and handyman. Huey, Dewey, and Louie decide to look all over McDuck Manor and the Money Bin for their Uncle Scrooge. There are quite a few other DuckTales regulars that show up in this issue with brief cameos: Mrs. Beakley, Doofus, Bubba the Caveduck, Webby Vanderquack, Gyro Gearloose, Gizmoduck, and Launchpad McQuack. Huey , Dewey, and Louie decide to jump off of the diving board into his money to look for Scrooge. Their dive into Scrooge’s money is not as successful as their Uncle Scrooge. Scrooge emerges from the bottom of the money bin from his swim, and the boys apologize for not enjoying their treasure hunt of Duckburg for the greatest treasure. Scrooge had the greatest treasure all along…Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

DuckTales #5 (Alan Quah)

This five issue story arc of searching for the greatest treasure in Duckburg with the revelation that Scrooge’s family is the greatest treasure of all is a duck tale that has been told many times before, and it took nine months to tell. “Four Corners of Your World” will make a good collected trade paperback, but the individual issues did suffer greatly due to many release date delays out of Dynamite’s control. There was four months in between the previous issue and this issue which finally wrapped up the story arc. Future issues of Dynamite Comics’ DuckTales series are said to feature more of the other DuckTales characters and also include stories that take place outside of Duckburg. I am personally looking forward to some tales of daring do bad and good luck tales. Tommaso Ronda’s DuckTales art is really fun and the highlight of this series for me. Ivan Bigarella’s covers are all frame worthy and really do belong in a Duckburg museum. The art for this series is delightful which gives me high hopes for what is to come from this family full of the greatest treasures of all.

DuckTales fans, it is time to Woo-oo again!
