Goofy Parker lives with his Aunt Tessie and Uncle Ben. Aunt Tessie looks a lot like Goofy she made her debut in a one shot comic in 1957. The role of Uncle Ben is played by Aunt Tessie’s sidecar. Aunt Tessie puts Uncle Ben up for sale as she is having trouble paying the mortgage. Goofy Parker is an insect enthusiast, and Professor Gyro is his Entomology teacher. Goofy fills Aunt Tessie’s house with his insect collection. Goofy saves Aunt Tessie from a spider in the attic. Goofy thinks the spider is unique so he takes it to Professor Gyro. A ray that can transfer atomic properties from one object to another hits the spider. The spider bites Goofy Parker giving Goofy the powers of a spider. Goofy Parker decides to enter Mortimer’s Talent Show contest to try and earn money to pay for Aunt Tessie’s mortgage. Goofy Parker creates his costume from some clothes that Aunt Tessie threw in the trash after some of Goofy’s moths chewed holes in them. He names himself Spider-Goofy. Spider-Goofy wins the $100,000 prize at the talent show thanks to his super strength and web slinging abilities. The Beagle Boys run on stage and steal the prize money. Spider-Goofy could have easily stopped them, but he thought the security guard wanted a picture with him instead of stopping the thieves. Goofy Parker heads home and finds out that the Beagle Boys stole and trashed Uncle Ben in their escape. Spider-Goofy tracks down the Beagle Boys and webs them up for the Calisota police. An art dealer offers Aunt Tessie $100,000 for what is left of the Uncle Ben sidecar for his Relationship Between People and Machines exhibit. Goofy Parker learns the lesson that with great power comes great responsibility. This was a really fun retelling of Spider-man’s origin story. Goofy was a great choice for Spider-man. The Marvel team did an amazing job with the Marvel & Disney: What If…? comic book series.
