Scrooge McDucks throughout the multiverse teaming up to battle an evil Scrooge was an epic idea for a Marvel and Disney one shot comic last summer. It was the ultimate comic event for Disney Duck fans. You can read my detailed review on the original comic release of Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime at the link below:
Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Review
After experiencing Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime, I was really hoping for a Marvel special edition release to add to the book shelf to commemorate the first Uncle Scrooge Marvel comic. My bagpipes were officially blessed when Marvel announced that Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime would be added to their Gallery Edition lineup.
Marvel Gallery Edition
What is a Marvel Gallery Edition book? Marvel Gallery Edition books are oversized premium hardcover books that are around 3 inches taller and 3 inches wider than a standard comic release. The Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition is 112 printed pages which includes the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime story (30 Pages), Christmas on Bear Mountain (20 Pages), and many rich bonus content that even Scrooge McDuck wouldn’t mind you double dipping on.
Our MARVELous friends at Marvel sent over a copy of the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition for our review.
Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition
The Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition hardcover book cover features the main cover of the comic illustrated by Alex Ross. Alex Ross is a legendary artist so this was a great cover selection for this hardcover Gallery Edition release.
Note: There is also a variant cover of the Gallery Edition that features the artwork of J. Scott Campbell.

Here is a size comparison photo of the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition of the book compared to the original comic release which measures about 3 inches larger in height and width.

I now own the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime comic in multiple covers, a digital copy, and this new Gallery Edition hardcover. This new Gallery Edition hardcover is a fantastic upgrade with its high quality oversized pages featuring amazing artwork from this epic Duck Tale.

A green silhouette of Scrooge McDuck is featured on any pages in the Gallery Edition that were originally ads for other Marvel comic releases in the comic of Uncle Scrooge and Infinity Dime.

Dark Scrooge “Scrooge-Above-All” is a fun new villain design for old Scroogie. I would without question buy a figure or other merch showcasing this evil version of Scrooge.

Again, you can check out the detailed spoiler filled review of the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime story, here.
I want to focus this blog review on the details of the hardcover Gallery Edition. The TLDR and cliff notes version of my previous story review of the individual issue is that the story and art get a 10/10, and I would consider it to be essential reading for Disney Duck fans.
Every version of myself throughout the duck multiverse would buy this issue. I would own infinity copies of “Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime”.
Christmas on Bear Mountain
The Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime Gallery Edition continues with an oversized reprint of the classic Carl Barks story from 1947 that started it all for Scrooge, Christmas on Bear Mountain. You may already have this important and essential comic included in other collections, but it is great to have an easy accessible oversized copy of Christmas on Bear Mountain included in this book. This classic Carl Barks story is Scrooge McDuck’s very first appearance, and Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime has a direct connection to this classic story. It is great that Marvel was able to include it in both the original release of the Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime comic as well as this hardcover Gallery Edition.
List of Gallery Edition Bonus Content
Bonus Content:
- Introduction written by Jason Aaron
- Interview with Jason Aaron
- Interview with the various artists
- Interviews with Alex Ross and Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, artists of the main covers
- Short interviews with the artists of the variant covers
- Gallery of the variant covers
- Behind-the-scenes materials: sketches with the creation of the Dark Scrooge, initial layouts of the comic pages with highlights on the changes made during the various stages of development.
Interviews
You can really tell that this was a dream assignment for Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime writer Jason Aaron in his introduction and interviews. The interview with the interior illustration artists from the three parts and epilogue was also insightful on how much they fans of both the Scrooge character and Marvel Comics. As I mentioned before, I love the design of Dark Scrooge. We get an interview with some details from Jason Aaron and illustrator Francesco D’Ippolito on what went into the design of this bad guy Scrooge. We also get some initial design sketches for Dark Scrooge. I am sure Dark Scrooge is a major highlight for many people that read this story.
Covers
Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime was not just an amazing story, but it was also an epic variant cover event where many Marvel artists got to draw the beloved money miser. I remember that it was not an easy decision on which variant covers to add to my pull list. I wanted all of the covers, but my inner Scrooge wouldn’t let me. You will be happy to know that the art for every variant cover is included in full page oversized glory. This includes the D23 Expo exclusive variant cover by Esad Ribić and the second printing cover by Mirka Andolfo. As someone that wanted every cover in my comic collection, I am thrilled to have the complete cover gallery in this book. A new goal for me will be to meet the various artists at conventions and have them sign their specific cover page in this book for a fun keepsake.
Several of the cover artists were interviewed for the bonus features asking them questions about their love of Scrooge and the artist’s process for coming up with their covers. These behind the cover interviews were a great read. Some of the artists also include unused covers and original pencil and ink sketches for their covers.
More Bonus Content
One of my favorite sections of bonus content is a section that shows how illustrated panels of the story improved during the creation of the comic. You will be presented with an amazing panel that you will think from first glance was already great to begin with, but then with some insightful notes you will see how those panels transformed and had more life added to them to get the amazing finished product results.
The book concludes with two pages that talk about other Disney Duck comic stories that take place on Bear Mountain such as Return to Bear Mountain (1987), Another Christmas on Bear Mountain (2007), Holiday Hideaway on Bear Mountain (2017), and The Unbearable Miser on Bear Mountain (2022). As a Darkwing Duck Stan, I have to mention that one of the sample pages on the last page of this book from Another Christmas on Bear Mountain has a panel where Launchpad McQuack is singing the Darkwing Duck theme song.
What is not included in the Gallery Edition?
There are a couple of items from the original Uncle Scrooge & the Infinity Dime comic release that are not included in this Deluxe Gallery Edition. Three pages of Team Marvel highlighting their all time favorite Scrooge covers is not in Gallery Edition. There was also an advertisement for Marvel and Disney’s What If…? Donald Duck Became Wolverine and What If…? Donald Duck Became Thor which were released in July and September last year. Turnaround Art of Donald as Wolverine and Thor along with two sample pages from What If…? Donald Duck Became Wolverine is also absent from this edition. A Marvel and Disney: What If…? Trade Paperback which will include all of the Marvel and Disney What If…? comics is tentatively scheduled for release in October 2025. I am really looking forward to that release as well.
Review
Even though Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime was a singular story, it is great that Marvel recognized it and showed great respect to it and its fans by making this deluxe edition. I had originally imagined that if this comic ever got a collector’s edition treatment that it would be packaged in a trade paperback or hardcover with some of the What If…? Marvel and Disney comics that were released after it. It is a dream that fans have this Gallery Edition option for their Disney Duck library. In fact, I would consider it to be an essential part that needs to be added to your collection. I know that some of you may be asking if it is worth double dipping and upgrading if you already own the individual comic. To those readers of this blog, I would ask, “Did you skip to this review section and not read everything above it?” The oversized printed pages are enough to warrant the upgrade to enjoy every detail from the panels of this blockbuster comic. The massive amount of bonus content added to this Gallery Edition makes it the most definitive copy of Uncle Scrooge and the Infinity Dime that you could ever own. Prove that you are the Scrooge-Above-All fan and all about that “Tougher than the toughies, smarter than the smarties, sharper than the sharpies” lifestyle by adding this new treasure to your collection.
