Preview More Covers and Interior Pages for Dynamite Comics DuckTales #1…Woo-oo!

Bless me bagpipes…November is almost upon us. That means that the Final Order Cutoff for Dynamite Comics’ highly anticipated DuckTales comic series is approaching. By this Monday (October 14th), you are going to want to let your local comic book shop know which covers of DuckTales #1 that you want the shop to preorder from Dynamite for you. This is the best way to guarantee that you get all of the covers or specific covers that you want to read or add to your collection. I have heard way too many stories of people just arriving at a shop on release date and thinking they could just walk to the shelf and pickup the specific comic and cover that they are expecting to be there. In fact, that had been my story on too many occasions until I wised up. DuckTales is going to be a hot comic, and you are not going to want to miss out on getting the first issue. Be smarter than the smarties and reserve your copies by October 14th.

Now for the hard part, what cover(s) are you going to get? I haven’t even made that important decision. Here is a look at the DuckTales #1 covers.

Some of these covers have special variant editions that come in virgin (no text), foil, virgin foil, or even metal. Your first adventure is figuring out which covers you are going with, and then you can decide which ones you may want to bling out for the collection. Personally, I usually go with the main cover which for this DuckTales series is made by Ivan Bigarella, and for this DuckTales #1 issue recreates the title image from the end of the DuckTales theme song opening. Francesco Tomaselli’s image of Scrooge walking the world with his nephews is also iconic, and this cover is the one that also has a metal edition. My buddy, Carlo Lauro, has Scrooge diving in money with a blue background. Carlo will have a cover for each issue each profiling a character with their respective main color as the background. This would make for a great collection. Alan Quah’s cover art has Scrooge holding his number one dime in a gallery painting style. The dime does look like the DuckTales (2017) dime style so he gets bonus points for that. Then we have a classic DuckTales Scrooge key artwork cover. DuckTales #2 has Launchpad McQuack cover for the classic key artwork cover that I definitely have an eye on. Finally, we get a cover by the illustrator of the comic, Tommaso Ronda, that shows off some of his early Scrooge McDuck character designs. You can never go wrong with selecting a cover done by the interior illustrator.

I realize that the paragraph above probably did not help you narrow down your choice, but it may have made you want multiple covers. Sorry about that, now you know how my world works. I have no self control. Some advice that I always give is to try and pick a cover artist or cover style that you like that that will look good together as you collect the entire comic series.

There will also be two blank covers in white or orange if you want you or one of your other favorite artists to illustrate your/their own version of the cover for DuckTales #1. These blank covers are great to bring to conventions.

Here is the official synopsis for DuckTales #1 as well as some preview illustration pages by Tommaso Ronda.

The ridiculously wealthy Scrooge McDuck is the most famous resident of Duckburg-but his fortune goes far beyond mere currency. To his young nephews, “Unca” Scrooge is rich in something even more important than money stories!

Whether it’s the saga of how he dug his first million out of the Klondike, or the many times he saved his lucky Number One Dime from the clutches of Magica De Spell, the feisty tycoon is a font of mesmerizing tales and Huey, Dewey, and Louie can’t get enough!

But even as they pester their Uncle to share more yarns of his legendary quests and globetrotting treasure hunts, the three boys are about to learn that the most valuable item Scrooge McDuck owns isn’t locked up in his absurdly capacious Money Bin -it’s the lifetime of wisdom he’s got stockpiled inside his head!

Writer BRANDON MONTCLARE (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Rocket Girl) and artist TOMMASO RONDA (Kalya) uncover a vein of solid gold adventures with Duck Tales #1 burnished by billion-dollar covers from IVAN BIGARELLA, FRANCESCO TOMASELLI, CARLO LAURO, and ALAN QUAH!
