Official Synopsis:

With three gods now missing, the atmosphere of Mount Olympus is turning grim. Down in the mortal realm, however, humanity can get along without the gods of love, war, and the forge – for a little while, at least. But all that is about to change when Apollo suddenly vanishes from his golden chariot in the sky – leaving a blazing midday sun that refuses to set!

Now it’s up to Hercules and Pegasus to get the sun moving again before Earth is burned to a crisp. This dramatic escalation stokes Herc’s and Meg’s suspicions that Hades is behind these divine disappearances – but the situation in the underworld may be more dire than even they suspect!

My Review

*STOP READING HERE IF YOU WANT TO AVOID ALL SPOILERS*

The story in this issue is titled “World War C for Centaur”. A fight breaks out at the wedding of Pirithous and Hippodamia which starts a war between humans and centaurs. The cause of the war is a riddle that was whispered to Chiron in a dream. The riddle puts the listener into a trance of rage until they find out the answer to the riddle.

The gods on Mount Olympus are no help in trying to stop the war, and Ares, the god of War, is even encouraging the war. It is up to Hercules, Galatea, Phil, and Pegasus to intervene before the war gets to out of hand. The mechanical head of Talos solves the riddle which cures the humans and centaurs that were stuck in their rage trance. The war has ended. Ares is disappointed because he wanted the war to last forever. His disappointment is short lived as he is the fourth god to go missing.

Hercules is convinced that Hades is the person responsible for the missing gods. Hercules is so sure other it is Hades that I no longer think Hades is a suspect. Although, I would love it to be him because I want to see George Kambadais’ illustrate Hades. This storyline will continue for a few more issues, and I am sure we will see a new god be a focal point and go missing in each one.

Alessandro Ranaldi’s cover of Zeus making the Hercules constellation is my favorite moment from the Hercules movie. “That’s Phil’s boy!”
