Covers
This is a Dynamite Comics release. So you know that there is going to be a Goliath amount of covers for their Gargoyles comic series. As usual, my favorite cover is the Cover A from David Nakayama which features most of the Manhattan Clan. I have really enjoyed collecting all of the David Nakayama covers for this comic series.

The other Dynamite Comics Gargoyles variant covers that I am collecting are the action figure covers. I have all of the Gargoyles action figure variants for the previous issues. Fu-Dog is featured on the cover of Gargoyles #12. This Fu-Dog cover is amazing. We did not get a Lexington, David Xanatos, of Elisa Maza action figure covers with this comic series.

My Review

We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles.
The “Here in Manhattan” story that started out in Gargoyles #1 concludes with this final chapter…Chapter Twelve: Cold Comfort.
The Manhattan Clan of gargoyles are finally reunited again as their leader Goliath has returned. Goliath hasn’t seen Elisa since she took the stand in Goliath’s trial which concluded in issue #10 and was released way back in October. Elisa really wants to talk to Goliath, but as she tries to get a word out Goliath turns to stone. I got a laugh out of that one. Turns out that Elisa is suspended, but her Captain has an offer for Goliath.
The gangs of New York have a summit to discuss business and the kidnapping of two of their kids. Dino Dracon placed bombs at the five police precinct houses nearest to each gangs headquarters. Antoinette Dracon warns the gargoyles, and they are able to dispose of the bombs. A sixth bomb was hidden at the location of the summit. The gargoyles are able to neutralize that final bomb in time and convince the gang leaders to cease their rivalry. Dino Dracon shows up in his Brooklyn mask, and he has a bomb that will detonate if his finger triggers a button. Dominic Dracon blasts Dino through a window and the bomb explodes as Dino dramatically plummets to his presumable death.
Goliath accepts the NYPD offer of joining the Gargoyles Task Force. The comic ends revealing that Antoinette Dracon and Coldstone are working for Demona which will definitely be a storyline picked up in the next Gargoyles comic series, Gargoyles Quest.
This Gargoyles comic series has definitely been my favorite of Dynamite Comics’ Disney series. Gargoyles #1-12 delivered everything that I wanted in a Gargoyles series revival. We also got a special Halloween issue and a Gargoyles Dark Ages prequel series. An animated arrival with Greg Weisman in charge would be amazing, but until then you can inject Dynamite Comics’ Gargoyles series directly into my veins. The fun continues with a five issue limited series, Gargoyles Quest, which will feature more of my favorite gargoyle, Demona. Thanks Greg Weisman, George Kambadais, Jeff Jeff Eckleberry, and Nate Cosby for the fun ride. We live again!

The good news is when you support the comic and buy the individual issues, you help the comic get extended to more issues and a nice collected story trade for your bookshelves. Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Here in Manhattan will release March 27th and collect the first six issues of the series. It will be published as a trade paperback, trade hardcover, and trade hardcover signed by Greg Weisman collectible editions. I am opting for signed trade hardcover.
The covers by Trish Forstner and Tony Fleecs for Gargoyles #9-12 interconnect to form a larger piece of artwork.

Weisman and Kambadais are crushing all Eyrie Tower high expectations for this Gargoyles comic series.
Please make sure to support Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Dark Ages, Gargoyles Quest, Justice Ducks, Negaduck, Lilo and Stitch, and Disney Villains Cruella series while you are out buying Gargoyles.
