One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness, it was
a world of fear, It was the age of Gargoyles.

Covers

Gargoyles: Dark Ages has the amazing Clayton Crain as the main A cover artist for the series. His variant covers for Dynamite Comics Gargoyles #1, Darkwing Duck #1, and Justice Ducks #1 are among my favorite covers. His cover for Gargoyles: Dark Ages #6 features Goliath and Mentor. Clayton Crain’s cover will definitely be on my pull list each month.

Gargoyles: Dark Ages #6 (Clayton Crain)

The other Gargoyles: Dark Ages cover in my monthly pull list file is the action figure variant cover by Jeff Parker. This issue’s action figure cover features Othello.

This story arc is titled Alliance and this final chapter is Chapter Six: The Pledge

A treasure has been taken…

Actually multiple pieces of the dragon’s treasure will be taken, but we will get into that later. The gargoyle dragon has had an awakening from it’s slumber, and the massive beast’s goal is to attack the humans building Castle Wyvern. The dragon would prefer not to hurt any of his gargoyle relatives, but it will if they get in the way of the dragon achieving it’s goal. The gargoyles of course standby and honor their pledge with the humans in battle with the dragon. Drew Moss is a boss at illustrating this dragon by the way.

While the dragon is distracted in the fight, his treasure is left unguarded. Angel walks away with a flute which I am assuming is Puck’s flute. Humans are also able to retrieve the mythical and magical sword, Excalibur. Both of these items show up in episodes of the Gargoyles animated series. I love it when everything connects. The dragon senses that his treasure has been compromised and leaves the battle. Hopefully we get more Gargoyles Dark Ages comics in the future as this comic series was epic and a gift to Gargoyles fans.

Gargoyles: Dark Ages #6 (Jae Lee)

The issue ends with a few pages of text from Greg Weisman which gives readers more story and lore from the human side of what is going on around the time of Gargoyles Dark Ages. This is top tier bonus material for a top tier comic.

Gargoyles: Dark Ages #6 (Kenya Danino)

I can’t wait for new stories for the Gargoyles clan to continue in the comic series, Gargoyles Quest, debuting in April.
