Beast Kingdom Dynamic 8ction Heroes Al McWhiggin (DAH-074) Review

I can’t believe that I have to drive all the way to work on a Saturday. Welcome to Al’s Toy Barn! We have the lowest prices in town. Everything for a Buck, Buck, Buck!

Beast Kingdom’s Disney Afternoon figures in their Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure line have all been fun to collect and display, but there is one underrated Disney Pixar character from the 90s that Beast Kingdom recently released that I just had to showcase on the blog. That character is the star of Toy Story 2, the Chicken Guy from the Al’s Toy Barn commercial, Al McWhiggin.

Toy Story is such a major franchise for companies to make toys and collectibles. The idea of toys of the human characters playing with miniature toys from Toy Story is such a unique and bonkers idea. I think Beast Kingdom and Herocross are the only toy and collectibles companies out there with high quality Al McWhiggin merch. Herocross produced a static Al in regular clothes figure and a separate Chicken Guy Al figure.

Beast Kingdom sent over their new Dynamic 8ction Heroes Figure of Al McWhiggin for us to showcase on our blog. Let’s see if the toy collector is worth collecting.

Packaging

The Dynamic 8ction Heroes (DAH-074) Al McWhiggin figure comes in a box themed to Al’s Toy Barn. The box has window packaging so that you can see all of the pieces that come with the figure. You could keep Al mint in the box like Prospector Pete, but this figure needs to be taken out of the box to appreciate Al in all his glory.

Al McWhiggin

The Al McWhiggin is 1/9th scale and stands over 7 inches tall. The figure features 16 points of articulation. Al comes with his red shirt and brown pants in soft goods fabric. His glasses and watch complete his outfit. The figure stands very well on it’s own and definitely does not need to be accompanied by a stand. Anyone that has watched Toy Story 2 would immediately recognize this figure as Al from Al’s Toy Barn. The figure looks like it jumped right off the screen and ready to steal all of my collectibles.

Al’s second iconic look from Toy Story 2 is his chicken suit from his Al’s Toy Barn commercials. I think that you will agree that this chicken suit sculpt is amazing. In addition to the hard plastic chicken suit, Al comes with fabric chicken feet that you can fasten over his shoes. Al fits comfortably inside the chicken suit.

Accessories

Al McWhiggin comes with miniature toys of Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, and Prospector Pete (Mint in Box). Prospector Pete is a cardboard box. Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye are in the foam package containers that Al puts the valuable toy collectibles in to be sent to a museum in Japan.

If you want to add additional figures to your display, Al and the mini figure’s scale go very well with Disney Mini Brands figures from ZURU.

Face Sculpts

This set features two easily swappable face sculpts.

You can maneuver his eye bulbs from the back of the faceplate to have Al focus in any desired direction.

This set included four additional pairs of hands for even more display customization options. The great part about these extra hands is that they are actual hand poses that Al does in the movie like giving the thumbs up or OK signs with his hands. It is definitely a great attention to detail addition rather than including sets of random hands.

Review

I like the Toy Story movies, but I have never felt such a need to have a Toy Story item in my collection as Beast Kingdom’s Dynamic 8ction Heroes Al McWhiggin figure. It is a unique and fun figure of a character that you would not expect to see as a highly articulated premium collectible. I am going to trust Al to be a toy curator on my shelf for some of my other toys and collectibles. I love this figure.
