One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness, it was
a world of fear, It was the age of Gargoyles.
Gargoyles fans…we live again! The year is 2024 and Gargoyles is celebrating a milestone 30th anniversary this year. We have new Gargoyles content in the form of three Gargoyles comic series written by Greg Weisman and published by Dynamite Comics.
Beast Kingdom is definitely a fan of the Disney Afternoon as it has brought us some of our favorite characters from DuckTales, Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, and Gargoyles. Hopefully Beast Kingdom will dabble in some TaleSpin and A Goofy Movie next.
Gargoyles is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year. Beast Kingdom released a pair of Goliath Dynamic 8ction Heroes figures last summer. There was a standard Goliath figure and a convention exclusive Goliath figure in his frozen in stone look. We showcased the convention exclusive Goliath on our blog last year. Today, we will take a look at the standard Goliath figure release that Beast Kingdom sent to me to see how it compares to the special edition convention exclusive.
Packaging
The Gargoyles Goliath Dynamic 8ction Heroes DAH-034 figure comes in a windowed square box showcasing the figure inside. The box has a stone theme to it with the Gargoyles animated series logo on the sides, and some absolutely metal artwork of Goliath on the top box flap. With the window packaging, in box collectors could display the figure in box, but please don’t do that. Beast Kingdom uses the exact same box as the stone convention exclusive Goliath. The back of the box features pictures of the colorized Gargoyles Golaith standard edition. Enjoy some pictures of the packaging below.

Goliath (DAH-034)
Beast Kingdom’s Gargoyles Goliath Dynamic 8ction Heroes 1/9 scale figure measures at approximately 8.27 inches tall and features an impressive 26 points of articulation. His eyes have an LED light feature that gets it power from three LR-41 batteries. Unfortunately, the batteries are not included in the box.

Goliath’a tail has some points of articulation built into it.

One of the major pain points with the NECA Gargoyles Ultimates figures initial release of their Goliath figure was that it only came with the large extended wings which made it hard to fit into displays. A wing cloak for Goliath were later included with the NECA Bronx figure. This Beast Kingdom release comes with both the extended wings and the casual wing cloak look.
Beast Kingdom’s standard nameplate base which features the character’s name and Gargoyles animated show logo is included in this release. There is an extended arm to encourage you to use for posing.
The arm is very weak, but it can be carefully angled and positioned to hold up the figure. I am not a fan of the arm, but it can be essential for some dynamic Goliath posing.

You can also use Goliath’s large wings to balance himself out. I believe that this is my preference for the way that I will have him displayed on my shelf.

Accessories
This figure comes with a couple of customizing accessories for the figure in the form of alternate heads and three pairs of different alternate hands. Both of the heads feature the LED light up feature. I did not have any issues swapping the parts.

The LED light eyes are a nice bonus, but I doubt that I will use it that often.

Review
It is a great time to be a Gargoyles fan and collector. We are treated to all of this new content and companies are starting to realize the devoted fanbase of the Gargoyles clan. I like this Beast Kingdom Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure of Goliath a lot better in person than in pictures I had seen online. Both Gargoyles Goliath Beast Kingdom figure releases would make great additions to your Gargoyles collection. I feel the Beast Kingdom standard figure release that I detailed above differs enough from the NECA Gargoyles Ultimates collection Goliath to warrant having both in your collection if you need to have everything Gargoyles. The stone colored convention exclusive is my favorite between the two Beast Kingdom Gargoyles releases.
