One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness, it was
a world of fear, It was the age of Gargoyles.

Covers
This is a Dynamite Comics release. So you know that there is going to be a Goliath amount of covers for their Gargoyles comic series. As usual, my favorite cover is the Cover A from David Nakayama which features the Angela and Broadway.

The other Dynamite Comics Gargoyles variant covers that I am collecting are the action figure covers. I have all of the Gargoyles action figure variants for the previous issues. Nash is featured on the cover of Gargoyles #11. The Nashville action figure cover is the most relevant cover for this story than the rest of the covers as Angela and Coldstone are not featured in this issue.

We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles.
The “Here in Manhattan” story that started out in Gargoyles #1 continues with Chapter Eleven: Young at Heart.
The snappy suit wearing gangsters with the gargoyles mask are ready to take out the captive son and daughter from their rival gangs, but Dino Dracon’s niece, Antoinette, tips off Broadway. We get the return to action of the three best friend brothers Broadway, Lexington, and Brooklyn to interfere with Dino’s plans. Nashville comes along for the fight and finally gets to see his dad in action from all of the stories he told fighting along side his brothers. It is a great action fight which includes the rest of Dino’s gang in suits and gargoyles masks.
Meanwhile…Elisa Maza is having to hear it from her boss about Elisa’s testimony about her secret personal and crime fighting relationship with Goliath.
Halcyon Renard is on his death bed and Goliath has been one his chosen people to say goodbye to him. At the reading of Renard’s will, Goliath finds out that his friend is leaving him 2% of his company Cyberbiotics. It is a powerful 2% as it represents the tie-breaking vote. David Xanatos delivers a very appropriate Xanatos line that the newly declared citizen is rich, but not Thailog rich. We also find out that Renard was behind Goliath’s arrest and hearing. He did it so that Goliath could be in official standing to receive the inheritance. Halcyon Renard passes away to end the comic issue.
Marvel really needs to assign George Kambadais a Spider-man series or Dynamite should get George on another Disney series because his art has been spectacular and one of the reasons why this Gargoyles comic series was one of my favorite comics of 2023. I adore Kambadais’ art style for these beloved characters.
Greg Weisman’s writing is authentic and passionately brilliant as usual. Reading this comic really felt like I was experiencing the first two parts of a three part finale for an official third season of Gargoyles. All of the issues in this series have crushed my Eyrie Tower high level expectations. I am thrilled that Greg will have a third Gargoyles comic series with Dynamite Comics titles Gargoyles Quest after the Here in Manhattan story concludes because we definitely need some more Demona.

The good news is when you support the comic and buy the individual issues. You help the comic get extended to more issues and nice collected story trades for your bookshelves. Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Here in Manhattan will release in January and collect the first six issues of the series. It will be published as a trade paperback, trade hardcover, and trade hardcover signed by Greg Weisman collectible editions. I am opting for signed trade hardcover.
The covers by Trish Forstner and Tony Fleecs for Gargoyles #9-12 interconnect to form a larger piece of artwork.

Weisman and Kambadais are crushing all Eyrie Tower high expectations for this Gargoyles comic series.
I can’t wait for the next issue of Gargoyles which is tentatively scheduled to be released in February 2023…maybe? Also, please make sure to support Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Dark Ages, Gargoyles Quest, Justice Ducks, Negaduck, Lilo and Stitch, Disney Villains Hades, and Disney Villains Cruella series while you are out buying Gargoyles.
Dynamite Comics launched a special Kickstarter for Gargoyles 30th Anniversary to bring some paperback, hardcover, hardcover signed, and special deluxe editions of long out of print Gargoyles comics from Marvel and SLG. I always wanted to own these stories, but the second market prices have been out of my financial reach. I have never backed a Kickstarter campaign faster for these new editions, and I suggest that you back it as well so that you don’t miss out on these classic Gargoyles comics. You can check out that campaign here.
