Official Synopsis: Darkwing and The Justice Ducks must race to free Launchpad from an underwater Ducklantian prison. All that’s stopping them is the definitely-not-real-except-hang-on-maybe-it’s-totally-real-half-duck-half-fish MERDUCK!
Covers
This is a Dynamite Comics release. So you know that there is going to be a dangerous amount of covers. In this section, I am going to highlight some of the most dangerous covers for Darkwing Duck #10.

Ciro Canglialosi is illustrating the spin-off Negaduck comic series from Negaduck that debuted this past September. He has also produced the last few Darkwing Duck action figure variant covers and the magical Morgana variant cover below.

I am collecting the action figure variant incentive covers for this Darkwing Duck comic series. Quackerjack is the featured character on the action figure variant cover for Darkwing Duck #10. Quackerjack is not in this issue. A Quackerjack action figure was originally scheduled to be in the second wave of Playmates Darkwing Duck figures, but unfortunately the wave was cancelled.

The Justice Ducks are hot on the mystery villains trail which just so happens to be leading the team to Ducklantis thanks to Herb Muddlefoot’s Quackerware tracker. Gizmoduck is piloting a DW themed sub into treacherous waters where they find Neptunia who puts aside her differences with Darkwing for Launchpad’s sake. She leads the sub down to the deepest ocean depths where they battle with a shark and a hangry giant octopus. I have to say that the Justice Ducks swimming around in the ocean in their clothes/costumes instead of wet suits was an interesting choice. I bet Morgana was miserable in a wet dress. DW and LP wear wet suits in the classic episode “Something Fishy”. Darkwing and team rescue LP in the end and stop the mysterious new villain who was the one who snatched Launchpad’s compass and Launchpad too…the Merduck!
Personally, this four part story arc felt very off for me and not very authentically Darkwing Duck which I guess is why Dynamite is rebooting the comic with Justice Ducks next month. I am hopeful for the next series which Dynamite is advertising as the new “flagship” Darkwing Duck title going forward, Justice Ducks.
We officially went ten issues without a single “Keen Geer” from Gosalyn which definitely was not expected.

This Darkwing Duck story arc concludes Amanda Deibert’s run for Dynamite Comics initial Darkwing Duck series. The good news for fans is that Carlo Lauro will continue to illustrate the daring duck of mystery in Justice Ducks. Justice Ducks will be written by Eisner and Harvey award winner, Roger Langridge. I am looking forward to seeing what Roger does with the Darkwing Duck universe, and we already know that Carlo will do our favorite duck justice. See what I did there? It still feels pretty surreal that by next month, Dynamite Comics will have released three different Darkwing Duck comic series in 2023: Darkwing Duck, Negaduck, and Justice Ducks. Who knew that Dynamite Comics could get so dangerous?!

The first six issues of Dynamite Comics Darkwing Duck will be re-released as a special trade collection in January. It will be titled F.O.W.L. Play, and come in three collectible editions of a trade paperback, trade hardcover, and trade hardcover signed by Amanda Diebert. Buying the individual issues definitely make the trade collections and series extension possible. Keep getting dangerous every month when new issues are released.
Justice Ducks is tentatively scheduled for December 27th, 2023. Please make sure to support the Dynamite Comics Negaduck, Gargoyles, Gargoyles: Dark Ages, Disney Villains Cruella, and Disney Villains Hades series while you are out buying Darkwing Duck.
I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am the comic book variant cover that makes you buy multiple copies of the same book. I am Darkwing Duck!
