Dynamite Comics Disney Villains Scar #4 Review

Be Prepared!!!!

Yeah we’ll be prepared…for what?

We are prepared for Dynamite Comics new Disney Villains series which has debuted with everyone’s favorite brotherly lion and monkey’s uncle….Scar. I am not lion when I say that Dynamite Comics is creating new comic content from all of my favorite Disney IPs like Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, and the Disney Villains. Those big three pretty much sum up my Disney personality.

Dark Horse Comics was planning a Disney Villains line of comics a few years back starting with the sea witch, Ursula. I was so hyped for that Disney Villains comic series and then later bummed out to find that the planned series was cancelled when Dark Horse no longer had the license. Dynamite Comics has revived the idea of a Disney Villains comic series with the launch of Disney Villains: Scar. Scar is easily a top three Disney Villain for me along with Captain Hook and Gaston, but there is a near infinite list of Disney Villains that I would love additional content. Maleficent has already been announced as the second Disney Villain to get their own Disney Villains comic series from Dynamite Comics. The villain is always the star of every Disney animated movie and without the villain, you would not have your hero or princess.

The Disney Villains: Scar miniseries will run for four issues. This is the final issue.

Today, we will take a look at Disney Villains: Scar #4 published by Dynamite Comics.

Hyenas in the Pride Lands!

Rafiki appears to Scar in his dream to show him the possible future of what the Pride Lands would look like with Scar as king. It is a barren wasteland after the hyenas have full range to eat whichever animals they like. It is definitely not the circle of life. Timon and other meerkats plead to Scar to stop the hyenas and his subject’s suffering. Scar awakens to execute his plan which revolves around Mufasa’s major dodo, Zazu.

Disney Villains Scar #4 (Jae Lee)

Shenzi and Ed attack Zazu so that he would tell Mufasa as a distraction to Scar’s brother. We also get a glimpse of Simba with Mufasa. Meanwhile, Scar and Shenzi have herded animals to the Elephant Graveyard for a feast. Scar is congratulated by the Hyena Queen, Queen Zahour. Scar shows his gratitude by tossing her off a cliff Mufasa style. Queen Zahour survives the fall and vows that her and the any hyena stragglers that are not on Team Scar will get her revenge. Scar’s vulture followers take the queen and her stragglers out. Long live the Hyena King Scar? He is not actually called that, but you get the picture. All of the chess pieces are in place for the events that take place in The Lion King.

I was not fully prepared for the Dynamite Comics Disney Villains Scar series to end. I would also be excited for Scar II: Scar’s Pride or Scar 1½. It was definitely a royal mini-series to successfully lead the pack of new Disney Villains comics by Dynamite. If you enjoyed reading about Scar, you should definitely pick up the Disney Villains Maleficent and Hades comics.
