We are again in the Age of Gargoyles…toys and collectibles.
It is always a great time to be a Gargoyles fan, but we may currently be living in the best timeline with two hot comic book series from Dynamite Comics written by Greg Weisman as well as an absolute merchandise explosion of toys, games, and collectibles for the Disney Afternoon fan favorite Gargoyles.
This week we celebrate San Diego Comic Con 2023, and our friends at Beast Kingdom sent over their Gargoyles themed SDCC PX Previews exclusive figure to showcase on the blog. Beast Kingdom revealed at the previous year’s SDCC that they would be dipping their toe in the magical Gargoyles merch water to produce a Goliath figure in their popular Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure line. The results of the initial prototype was hideous. There is no other way to describe it. A year later, Beast Kingdom was able to listen to the feedback to produce not only a good representation standard edition of Goliath from the animated series but also a SDCC PX Previews exclusive stone variant edition of Goliath. With two recently released Goliath action figures from NECA and at least two additional Goliath variants on the way, does Beast Kingdom’s Gargoyles Goliath figure warrant your brief case of money? We take a look at the exclusive today.
Packaging
The Gargoyles Goliath SDCC PX Previews exclusive comes in a windowed square box showcasing the figure inside. The box has a stone theme to it with the Gargoyles animated series logo on the sides, and some absolutely metal artwork of Goliath on the top box flap. With the window packaging, in box collectors could display the figure in box, but please don’t do that. Beast Kingdom could be using the same box for the exclusive as the standard box edition as that seems to be the case for the sample that they sent me. The back of the box features pictures of the colorized Gargoyles Golaith standard edition, and the figure code on the box is listed as DAH-034 instead of DAH-034SP. This figure is a limited edition of 999, but that number is not listed on the box nor on any documentation inside. Enjoy some pictures of the packaging below.
Goliath (DAH-034SP)
Beast Kingdom’s Gargoyles Goliath Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure measures at approximately 8.27 inches tall and features an impressive 26 points of articulation. His eyes have an LED light feature that gets it power from three LR-41 batteries. Unfortunately, the batteries were not included in my box. This is the exclusive variant and Goliath is painted in a stone grey color with some black accents. The show accurate look would be for it to be all grey, but I like the black accents in his hair, wings, and belt. His loin cloth is made of real cloth as Beast Kingdom likes to use soft goods with their figures where appropriate. Goliath comes with two sets of wings for his wing and wing caped looks. The figure stands quite well by itself with the wing caped look, but posing can get complicated with the outstretched wings.
Goliath’a tail has some points of articulation built into it.
One of the major pain points with the NECA figures initial release of their Goliath figure was that it only came with the large extended wings that made it hard to fit into displays. The Beast Kingdom Goliath’s wings are smaller which fans will definitely appreciate.
This figure comes with two display bases: Beast Kingdom’s standard nameplate base which features the character’s name and Gargoyles animated show logo and an exclusive to this release stone pillar base. There is an extended arm to encourage you to use for posing in the air, but the figure is too heavy for the arm.
If you use that base, do not use the arm as it will frustrate you that it will not be able to hold Goliath’s weight. The base by itself is classy enough to make for a good way to display your figure especially if you have any of the other Disney Afternoon figures in Beast Kingdom’s Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure line.
I am still waiting for this team up. Dynamite Comics please make it happen for at least one of the 100 covers.
The hero of this exclusive is the stone pillar base. It looks great with Goliath and with the added height and steadiness of the figure, you can really take advantage of the high articulation of the figure to get him in a great statue pose and not worry about him falling over.
All heroes or villains would love to stand up on the stone base. I wish that the standard edition Beast Kingdom Dynamic 8ction Heroes Gargoyles Goliath figure would have also been released with the stone base.
Accessories
This figure comes with a couple of customizing accessories for the figure in the form of alternate heads and three pairs of different alternate hands. Both of the heads feature the LED light up feature. I did not have any issues swapping the parts.
The LED light eyes is a nice bonus, but I doubt that I will use it that often.

The Beast Kingdom Gargoyles Goliath Stone Version DAH-034SP 2023 SDCC PX Previews exclusive is listed as a limited edition of only 999 piece and retails for $99.99 at retailers such as Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store, and your local comic book shop.
The official release date is listed as July 26th.
Review
It is a Gargoyles world, and we are just living in it…again! NECA has already made a dream lineup of figures from Gargoyles, but this figure from Beast Kingdom would absolutely make a great addition to any Gargoyles fan’s collection. I do not have the standard edition from Beast Kingdom to compare it to, but this limited edition stone variant version definitely stands out from comparing pictures. I have not heard if Beast Kingdom plans on making any additional Gargoyles figures in this figure series, but this highly posable figure looks great with Beast Kingdom’s other Dynamic 8ction Heroes figures that include characters from DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, and Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers. I hope that Beast Kingdom continues to see the demand for high quality Disney Afternoon toys and collectibles. Gargoyles fans, we live again!
