Covers
Finally! I get to see David Nakayama draw the Angel of the Night. This cover may be my new favorite David Nakayama main cover of the series thus far, but the good news is that Demona is the spotlight character of almost ever cover for Gargoyles #7. There are so many great covers to choose from this month.
The other Dynamite Comics Gargoyles variant covers that I am collecting are the action figure covers. I have all of the Gargoyles action figure variants for the previous issues. Demona’s human alter ego Dominique Destine is featured on the cover of Gargoyles #7. I hope that NECA makes this a real action figure in their Gargoyles Ultimates figure line up.
My Review

We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles.
The “Here in Manhattan” story that started out in Gargoyles #1 continues with Chapter Seven: Everywhere.
Demona makes her highly anticipated Dynamite Comics Gargoyles series debut in this issue. She is looking more gorgeously evil as ever in both her human alter ego Dominique Destine and gargoyle form. I really like the way she looks in George Kambadais’ art style. Demona plans to use the last surviving spell from the Grimorum Arcanum for evil intentions. She spies on her former gargoyle clan which has a lot going on right now.
Broadway and Lexington find themselves in the middle of a gang war as Dino Dracon looks to take out one of his rival gangs in Manhattan with an army of drones. Meanwhile…Goliath and his lawyer are preparing for Goliath’s trial. Brooklyn is still feeling the stress of his leader of the clan position. Broadway and Lexington return home safely from their battle after Lexington is able to disable the drones.
The original three keys of power (The Grimorum Arcanum, The Eye of Odin, and The Phoenix Gate) are all gone. Readers get a recap of the destruction of those three keys of power from episodes of Gargoyles Season 2. Demona proclaims that there are three new keys of power that she will collect to conquer the human world. This new story arc gives me goose bumps with anticipation for what’s to come. Thanks Demona and Greg Weisman and George Kambadais and Jeff Eckleberry and Nate Cosby!

The good news is when you support the comic and buy the individual issues. You help the comic get extended to more issues and nice collected story trades for your bookshelves. Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Here in Manhattan will release in August and collect the first six issues of the series. It will be published as a trade paperback, trade hardcover, and trade hardcover signed by Greg Weisman collectible editions. I am opting for signed trade hardcover.

The newly announced prequel comic series Gargoyles: Dark Ages launches next week. Keep buying Gargoyles comics!
Weisman and Kambadais are crushing all Eyrie Tower high expectations for this Gargoyles comic series.
I can’t wait for the next issue of Gargoyles which is tentatively scheduled to be released July 26th, 2023. Also, please make sure to support Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Dark Ages, Darkwing Duck, Negaduck, Disney Villains Scar, Disney Villains Maleficent, and Disney Villains Hades series while you are out buying Gargoyles.
Gargoyles fans…WE LIVE AGAIN!

I enjoyed #7 a lot! While not “a ton” happened.. it introduced a ton of new info that created a lot of anticipation for future issues- such as: What are the 3 New Keys to Power?; Who is paying Tobe Crest to help out Goliath?; and Does Demona want to re-join the clan, minus Goliath?
I also loved the fantastic references to earlier Gargoyles episodes.
