Covers
It is Brooklyn’s time to shine in David Nakayama’s cover for this issue. Brooklyn is the current leader of the Manhattan Clan while Goliath is wrongfully imprisoned and awaiting to go on trial. David Nakayama’s covers in this series have been dynamite, and I like how he has featured a different gargoyle on each one.
The other Dynamite Comics Gargoyles variant covers that I am collecting are the action figure covers by Brent Schoonover and Alberto Silver. My favorite gargoyle Demona is featured on the cover of Gargoyles #6.
My Review

We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles.
The “Here in Manhattan” story that started out in Gargoyles #1 continues with Chapter Six: Underwater.
The title Underwater is from Brooklyn’s feelings of being the leader of the Manhattan Clan. Brooklyn is struggling because he feels absolutely helpless in the Goliath imprisonment and soon to be on trial situation. The gargoyles must respect Goliath’s decision to trust the humans and stand trial. Meanwhile…Dino Dracon is continuing his plan of stirring gang wars so that he can get control of the city.
Antoinette Dracon tips Broadway on to her uncle’s maniacal plans for NYC. Broadway reluctantly believes her and heads to Harlem to stop an attack on Slaughter Films. Lexington follows his brother. They both team up to stop Dino Dracon’s drone strike. Brooklyn questions his leadership skills which is sad, but we get rewarded with a gorgeous two page spread of highlights from Brooklyn’s life.
Dino orders a hit on Brod while he is still in prison. Brod is currently sharing a cell with Tony Dracon, and they both are neighbors to Goliath’s cell. Dino’s hitman is Wolf from the Pack.
Chapter six concludes the Gargoyles’ Here in Manhattan story kickoff of Dynamite Comics Gargoyles comic series. The good news is when you support the comic and buy the individual issues. You help the comic get extended to more issues and collected story trades for your bookshelves. Dynamite Comics Gargoyles: Here in Manhattan will release in July and collect the first six issues of the series. It will be published as a trade paperback, trade hardcover, and trade hardcover signed by Greg Weisman collectible editions. I am opting for signed trade hardcover.
Dynamite Comics Gargoyles fans have a lot to be excited for with the highly anticipated return of Demona in issue #7 next month. The newly announced prequel comic series Gargoyles: Dark Ages launches in July. Keep buying Gargoyles comics!
Weisman and Kambadais are crushing all Eyrie Tower high expectations for this Gargoyles comic series.
I can’t wait for the next issue of Gargoyles which will be tentatively released June 28th, 2023. Also, please make sure to support the Dynamite Comics Darkwing Duck, Disney Villains: Scar, and Disney Villains: Maleficent series while you are out buying Gargoyles.
