Beast Kingdom Scrooge McDuck (DAH-067) Review

Beast Kingdom revealed last year that some of our favorite characters from the Disney Afternooniverse would be coming to their Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure lineup. Those characters included Darkwing Duck, Negaduck, Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Goliath. A Chip ‘N’ Dale Rescue Rangers figure set which will include Chip and Dale was recently teased.

Beast Kingdom’s Dynamic 8ction Heroes figures are highly articulated 1/9th scale figures. The figures also come loaded with accessories and alternate parts so that you can customize the character for your display.

Our friends at Beast Kingdom sent over the Scrooge McDuck Dynamic 8ction Heroes figures for us to showcase on the blog. Bless me bagpipes!

Packaging

The packaging for this Scrooge McDuck figure comes in a square brown leather like box with artwork of the Scrooge McDuck figure’s face on the front of the box.

Scrooge McDuck (DAH-067)

This figure is a great representation of the Scrooge McDuck character in his classic look from the original DuckTales show from 1987 with his iconic blue suit. I would have also loved a red suit Scrooge to match his look in the Disney comics and the DuckTales (2017) show, but this is definitely the version for Beast Kingdom to release to go along with the Donald Duck and nephews in this figure line.

The Richest Duck in the World has eighteen points of articulation and stands at over 7.5 inches including his top hat. This really is a fantastic looking Scrooge McDuck figure, and I love the 1/9th scale size of the Beast Kingdom Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure line.

Unlike the hats for the Donald Duck and Huey, Dewey, and Louie figures, Scrooge’s top hat is not held in place by a magnet. Instead it is more of a tight fit that secures in place from a molded piece on top of his head that fits into a molded opening in the hat. The hat fits nicely onto both Scrooge head sculpts included in this release.

His fancy blue coat and spats are made of fabric. The fabric helps cover some of the articulation joints. Scrooge’s red belt is a very loose fit around his coat that will move around as you play with and pose the figure. You will definitely want to adjust the belt by centering the buckle and pushing the belt towards his waist after posing. This will make sure that Scrooge keeps his fitted suit look instead of the oversized and baggy look that I have seen in some pictures.

The closest figure in quality to the Beast Kingdom figure is the Hybrid Metal Figuration Scrooge McDuck figure by Herocross. That Scrooge McDuck is one of my all time favorite figures, and it has long been out of stock at Herocross. Maybe Herocross will make a 2.0 figure of Scrooge McDuck since it was such a hot seller. With all that said, I believe the Beast Kingdom Scrooge McDuck also deserves a place at the top of the mountain with the Herocross figure for best Scrooge figures.

Accessories

The Beast Kingdom Scrooge McDuck (DAH-067) figure comes with a few accessories and alternate parts that will give you plenty of options to customize your Scrooge McDuck figure in your display. Some of the accessories unfortunately feature inaccuracies or are representative of the DuckTales (2017) show instead of classic DuckTales.

  • 2 interchangeable facial expression head sculpts (normal and angry)
  • 5 different pairs of interchangeable hands (2 pairs of open hands, 1 pair of hands holding objects, 1 pair of hands with closed fists, 1 pair of hands holding coins)

I did not experience any issues with swapping out parts, but you should always be careful and not rush your swaps. These hands can also be used on the Beast Kingdom Donald Duck Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure if you want additional hand options. That Donald Duck figure only came with 3 pairs of hands.

  • Dome with Scrooge’s Number One Dime

This Scrooge McDuck’s Number One Dime version is for DuckTales (2017), and the dime is gold when it should be silver.

  • Scrooge’s Number One Dime

The non domed Scrooge McDuck’s Number One Dime that the figure can hold is also the incorrect color and the DuckTales (2017) version. This dime was silver in the promotional photos and on the back of the box.

  • Scrooge’s top hat
  • Scrooge’s cane

Scrooge’s cane is on the shorter side, but you can definitely make it work depending on your posing of the figure.

  • A money bag
  • A treasure map

This is the same treasure map that is used in the end credits of every classic DuckTales episode. This is an accessory that I have not seen used with other Scrooge McDuck figure releases.

  • DuckTales (2017) figure base with bracket

The display base has the logo for the DuckTales (2017) show instead of the classic DuckTales show to match the figure.

Scrooge McDuck’s legs are already bent at the knees which provides a good foundation for balancing the figure’s weight which will allow him to stand on his own and does not require the assistance of a display stand.

You could always use this base for one of your DuckTales (2017) Scrooge McDuck PhatMojo figures.

Review

This Scrooge McDuck figure is one of my favorites so far from the Beast Kingdom Dynamic 8ction Heroes figure lineup. I had a great time posing this figure for the review. Scrooge looks great and the 1/9th scale and articulation definitely makes him standout among other figures in my DuckTales collection. The accessories beyond the alternate head sculpt and hand options leave a lot to be desired due to the color inaccuracies or being from DuckTales (2017) and not the original DuckTales show. I would love a DuckTales (2017) Scrooge McDuck variant figure. Beyond the accessories though, this figure would make a rich addition to your collection. Woo-hoo!

Other classic DuckTales figures on my wishlist include Launchpad McQuack, Gizmoduck, Flintheart Glomgold, and Magica DeSpell.

  1. Great review! I appreciate the praise where praise is due, and the criticism where criticism is due. 😁👍

And thanks for answering whether or not some of the parts (like the hands) would be exchangeable amongst the figures of the line! Now I’m wondering: Are Scrooge’s and Donald’s bodies identical, and are (all of) their heads and hands interchangeable if one wanted to just goof around with these figures (also wondering about Mickey, Darkwing, H,D&L here).

My thoughts based on these images and your review:

    • Scrooge has one of the best (closed) beaks of the line, finally NOT looking like the character has a severe underbite!
    • Not utilizing a magnet for the hat seems to be an unfortunate move, but maybe it would’ve been too heavy for this set-up? This begs the question: Is Scrooge not really displayable WITHOUT his hat, due to him sporting some sort of huge goose egg to hold the hat? You can’t really see it in the photos…
    • The wrong logo is unfortunate, but close enough to the original that I’d be fine with the mix-up. Putting a space between Duck and Tales on the box though… 🤨😉
    • Where’s the “Y” on his number one dime in “LIBERTY”?
    • At first I thought you criticized the dome itself, and I thought “his dime’s dome appears correct to me. The classic show used both, pillows AND the $-sign stand, didn’t it?” (As confirmed here: https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Number_One_Dime) But then I realized it’s the dime’s design that’s the problem, right? Hmmm.
    • And it’s really too bad that they messed up the coin’s color! THAT’s a bad boo-boo…
    • That cane DOES appear awfully short, too, as you wrote.
    • The original end credits map is a VERY nice touch (albeit a bit cropped)! Are both sides identical?
    • I would LOVE a Launchpad figure (in scale)! I wonder if they could find a sculptor who’d perfectly mix the character’s original DuckTales style, and his more dynamic, exaggerated Darkwing Duck style for the figure.
    • That said, I’d ADORE a well sculpted (original DuckTales) Mrs. Beakley figure! 😅

    Fun!
